Alex Cabot drove down the all too familiar dirt road. She put the visor down to block the rays of sun that filled up the fields. Pulling into the drive way, she stepped out of the car onto the gravel driveway, the only ground she's owned. Taking her sunglasses off, she looks at the house. It was a beautiful two story farm house with a lot of windows.
Moving to Pennsylvania was a big change for the newlywed couple. With both being city girls since they were born, they had to adjust to the open land. But it was beautiful and they loved it.
The only ground I ever owned was sticking to my shoes
Now I look at my front porch and this panoramic view
I can sit and watch the fields fill up
With rays of glowing sun
The blonde leaned against the car until she saw the moon coming up from behind the fence. Suddenly she heard giggling. Taking it one step at a time, she walked up the porch steps and over to the front window that had a view of the living room. What she saw made her heart swell.
Or watch the moon lay on the fences
Like that's where it was hung
My blessings aren't in front of me
It's not about the land
I'll never beat the view
From my front porch looking in
Hanging onto the couch with one hand and a sippy cup in the other, a red haired little boy started to take a few steps. As soon as he let go of the couch, he fell back giggling. Across from him was a blonde hair blue eyed girl.
"Kara...put your shoes on the right feet sweetie." Alex heard her wife say with a chuckle.
"I dress myself mama!" The little girl replied.
"You stinker." Her wife replied as she scooped up the little girl in her arms and started tickling her.
"Danny! Help me!" The little girl said through her laughs.
The little boy crawled toward his mother and hit her leg, resulting in her scooping him up also. She sat down on the couch with both of them in her lap and kissed both heads. Casey, Alex's wife, was the most beautiful woman Alex has ever laid eyes on. With long, red hair and beautiful green eyes.
There's a carrot top who can barely walk
With a sippy cup of milk
A little blue eyed blonde with shoes on wrong
'Cause she likes to dress herself
And the most beautiful girl holding both of them
And the view I love the most
Is my front porch looking in, yeah
Having to go into Witness Protection Program was one of the hardest things she's ever had to do. Even after they moved to PA, the criminals somehow found her so they shipped her off to South Dakota. The only things she like about South Dakota was how beautiful the sky was, knowing God used his hand to paint them.
I've traveled here and everywhere
Following my job
I've seen the paintings from the air
Brushed by the hand of God
Standing on this porch, none of that matters. The mountains and the canyons, the seas, the skies, none of it matters. Nothing she has ever seen compares to what she is seeing now. It took her breath away.
The mountains and the canyons reach from sea to shining sea
But I can't wait to get back home
To the one he made for me
It's anywhere I'll ever go and everywhere I've been
Nothing takes my breath away
Like my front porch looking in
Alex watched as Casey stood up, ready to take the kids to bed. That's when she decided to knock. After she knocked, she stepped into a position so they couldn't see her from any windows. A few second later, the door opened and Casey appeared.
"Can I he- oh my god..." She said.
"Hey." Alex said quietly
"A-Alex?" Casey said, shocked.
"Yeah, it's me." Alex replied.
Still having the little boy in her arms, Casey flung herself at her wife. Alex wrapped her arms around Casey and held her tight, tears running down her face. Suddenly she felt something hugging her leg. She looked down and saw Kara clinging to her. She bent down and gently picked her up.
"Welcome home, Alex." Casey said.
"There's no place I'd rather be."
Oh, the view I love the most
Is my front porch looking in
Yeah
Oh, there's a carrot top who can barely walk
(From my front porch looking in)
A little blue eyed blonde with shoes on wrong, yeah
And the most beautiful girl
(Beautiful girl
From my front porch looking in)
Holding both of them
Oh, yeah
