As Charlie sank back into the shadowy depths of the water a song played over and over in his head…

 As Charlie lay back on the water he could only think about Claire and the life they had shared together, his love for her was so deep it hurt him to think of her all alone now but he had to do this…to save her

As soon as he saw her, he knew she was the one for him, she was the one who was going to save his from the vicious spiral of drugs and he knew she was going to be the only one who could save him from the aching he found deep inside his soul…and now it was his turn to save her

Charlie remembered all the times he had pinched himself to make sure he wasn't dreaming…she made him feel complete and for once in his life he wasn't afraid to take a chance and open up to her…and for once his heart began to mend itself and that was why he had to do this even though it tore his soul apart

Charlie remembered Claire's reaction when they talked about Desmond's premonition and then he remembered the feeling he got when she told him that they would get through this together and then he wasn't afraid anymore as he had her and that was then he realised that he was complete and that he had learned to live his life for a higher purpose and that is why he knew he was doing the right thing

Charlie couldn't believe his luck when he had found out that Claire felt the same about him…he had never believed in love at first sight but when he saw her he knew he had been wrong…and the dark night which he had been trapped in was and it was beginning to break when he saw her smile…he loved her smile and it gave him great comfort to think of that as he sank deeper in the water

Charlie loved hoe Claire saw good in him and hoe she gave him a second chance when a shadow from his past reared up…she had given him a new view on life and now he felt complete and this was his way of saving her

Charlie's eyes began to close and the last think he thought of was Claire and how beautiful he was to her and how she had saved him and bought him back from the brink of destruction he always thought of her as a rose…an eternal sign of love and the was what she would always be to him….his rose

Charlie closed his eyes
