Full Summary:
Reverend Camden isn't the only one with the heart problem. Fourteen-year-old Makalah Seija Umeshvishwakarma was diagnosed with heart failure when she was ten-years-old. Now her parents have decided to vacation in a cabin on the seaside. What happens when the Camden's decide to go to the seaside and vacation as well? Will Makalah find the strength to carry on when her parents are killed in a boating accident? Will the Camden's take her in? And what happens when Makalah collapses after returning to Glenoak with the Camden's? Will she be okay? And what about her brother? Will he be able to stay at the Camden's with Makalah?

I remember when I was little how I used to run around the house and chase my puppy up and down the stairs. I remember hitting my older brother in the head with a basketball after he threw me down for trying to travel. I remember running into the school bully in elementary school and finally standing up to him, then getting pushed into the mud. After he pushed me into the mud, I didn't get up. My older brother, who was only two years ahead of me in the seventh grade, was called out of class to come get me at the nurse's office.
When my brother got to the nurse's station, I was barely breathing and the paramedics had been called. My brother was scared that I wasn't going to live. I was taken to the hospital and my parents and brother were told that either I got a heart transplant, or I would die. I was taken off a ventilator two months later and was able to go home.
I am fourteen now and in the ninth grade. My brother, sixteen, is in the eleventh grade. He and I are very strong when it comes to how we live. We go jogging every morning; not very long though because he knows that my heart could give out at any moment. We go to Swazi Mosque High School where our father is a Rabbi. We have been going to Swazi Mosque since our father became the Rabbi there, which was when I was in the third grade and my brother was in the fifth grade.
