This is my first Glee fanfic, but I absolutely love the show and wanted to do a fanfic. It shows a Tina/ Brittany friendship, because I think they would make great friends and have been waiting for it but it never came, hence the one shot. It's set just after series 3 episode Hold On to Sixteen.
As Tina walked down the halls of McKinley High, she thought about Sectionals. All the New Directions thought they had lost the moment Mercedes, Santana and Brittany had left to join the Troubletones. They thought they were doomed the moment Rachel was banned from competing.
Luckily though, Finn and Rachel had convinced Sam to return to Lima, and with him they were able to win. Tina had even been given a solo! Deep down she knew it was only because other girls weren't competing with the New Directions, but still it was a solo.
Even so she was glad Quinn had convinced the other girls to return to Glee though, even if it meant giving up solos. She still didn't feel ready for them, the other girls were better; they deserved them more than her. Mike tried to convince her otherwise. He would say that she was just as talented as all of them; but to Tina he was only saying that because he was her boyfriend.
She had been so lost in her thoughts, that she didn't see Brittany standing a couple of metres in front of her. Well not until she had walked into her, that is.
"Oh my gosh, Britt. I didn't see you, miles away." Tina exclaimed, as she pulled the blond dancer to her feet.
However the blond seemed confused with the response. "No you weren't, you were right here."
"It's an expression, Brittany. It means I was thinking and not paying attention." The Asian girl replied with a sigh. "I'm sorry for bumping into you."
"Oh! That's ok, I was actually looking for you do it's cool." Brittany grinned.
"Why were you looking for me?"
"I wanted to ask you a question. Why don't you sing more often? You hardly ever sing, so I was just wondering."
Tina was shocked. Never had one of the Glee Club came up to her and ask why she didn't sing much, well apart from Mike. She didn't know how to respond. But she didn't have to, the blond carried on, whilst starting to walk down the hall.
"It's just listening to you at Sectionals made me realise I hardly ever hear you voice. Only if we're singing back-up or if the other girls, don't want to sing or can't."
Sighing, Tina turned Brittany to look at her. "Listen, Britt it's not that I don't want to sing or anything, but I don't think I'm good enough." She spoke truthfully.
Brittany had a puzzled look on her face. "What do you mean?"
"I mean that, I can't sing as well as Rachel, or Santana, or even Mercades. I can't dance nearly as well as you can. And I not pretty like Quinn."
"What are you talking about? You're a great singer, and an amazing dancer. And you are beautiful. Trust me, I'm a Unicorn, I know."
Both girls started laughing at that. When they had calmed enough to talk again, Tina looked to Brittany. "Thank you for what you just said, I know you meant it."
"Of course I meant it, I knew the whole time. And so did you, you just forgot and needed somebody to point the way. Do you want to go to lunch now? Because I'm hungry; but I don't remember how to get to the canteen. Can you take me?"
She smiled at the blond dancer and nodded; linking arms the girls were on their way. Then Tina couldn't help but think. Maybe Brittany is a genius.
