Battle cries filled the air.

Two masses of cats came up the hill.

The masses stood while the leaders talked.

"If we must fight," one leader meowed boldly, "Let it begin here."

"It began when your clan ambushed us," snarled the other leader.

"We did not ambush you," the first leader frowned, "You were way over our boundaries. We had a right to attack you."

"We were not over the boundaries," the second leader whipped his head backwards to his clan, "Let's show these lying, crowfood eaters!"

"I didn't want to do this," the first leader closed his eyes, and then opened them, "Attack!"

The battle began; cat versus cat, deputy versus deputy, leader versus leader, apprentice versus apprentice.

Two apprentices charged up to each other.

Then they stopped.

They stared at each other.

One apprentice started to move to kick the other.

The other one just stared.

The first apprentice stopped and returned the stare.

Then they turned around, and ran in opposite directions.

Down the hill, and back to their camps.

Where they stayed, and did not come out.

There were many battles between those moons. But neither apprentice showed themselves.

Moons later, the clans lived in peace working together. Those same two apprentices had become leaders of their clan. They had stopped battles between those clans for many moons.

Those apprentices stopped war between their clans why can't we?
