The motor whirred as a rusty pickup truck slowly drove down the dirt paths of the forest. I was in the sluggish vehicle, along with my mom. Ever since my dad went missing, my mom had to find a way to support the both of us. She found a job in Evelan as a farmer. It was a few hours from our previous location in Stalberg, the major port of the region. I stick my head out the window and let the cool breeze lightly buffer my face. All of the Grass Pokemon are frolicking in the dirt, cooled by the shade of the dense undergrowth. Ahh, Fenika. Where else can you walk through endless lush forests without being disturbed by civilization?

"We're here Chase!" I hear from my left. I blink and slowly get up from the stiff seat. Must've fallen asleep. My back hurts from the horrible support, but I jump out of the ancient Toyota anyways. I examine the small town. A few small houses near a vast amount of farmland. On the other side of the town, I find a huge mansion and a wooden amphitheater. Looks kinda like District 11 from the Hunger Games. I grasp the handle of my backpack and hoist it out of the cargo rim on the back of the truck. She directs me over to one of the houses. Built of brick with one floor, and only one bed. "Yes, I do understand that youth need proper back support. That is why I'm taking the bed!" my mom says, and I mentally sigh. I guess she can be classified as young.

I abruptly wake from my sleeping bag to a large thumping. I stare out the puny glass window to see a young boy, about my age, approaching the door. I rush into the bathroom to comb my hair, so that I don't look like a maniac. Once he knocks on the door, I slide the door open. "Hmmm. I didn't expect you to look like that. Black hair, and you're tall? I was thinking blonde hair, sorta nerdy looking. I'm Leo, want to come with me to see the Professor?" He spurts out. "I don't even know you, plus I haven't eaten y-" I try to say. "Don't worry, I got ya covered. C'mon! It'll be fun!" he says. "Are you sure that my mom would even approve of this?" I ask him. "She'll be at work. My dad's the manager of the agricultural company, so I'm sure she won't mind." he says. I take a sheet of paper and write, "I'll be back at five, playing with the manager's son," on it, and I leave it on one of the tables. It probably wasn't the smartest to go to a different town with a stranger, but how else will I occupy myself for eight hours?

"You might want to take this," Leo tells me. He hands me a pink scarf with purple lines on it. "Really, pink?" I reply. "It's my sisters..." he says. "Urgh! I bet it has cooties!" I say as I drop it on the ground. The only thing that convinces me to haul it back up is a sudden breeze. I wrap it around my neck and stare at the large mass of ice that looms before us. "We got to go through that?" I ask him, hoping he says no. "Yes!" he says, and that darkens my mood. We trudge through the thick snow, falling down every few steps. I see a bit of movement up ahead, and I squint to try to pick up the details. The hail is turning my face red, and it starts to hurt a slight bit. I jog a few steps until I see two figures fighting over an object.

Yolo, I think in my mind as I rush toward them. "I'll save your purse!" I yell, and I trip while sprinting towards them. It's a ball with a red top and a white bottom. I chuck it at the intruder, and it explodes with a flash of white light. Sadly, the burst of light does no damage. I see a blue ball, and I think it's a Pokemon. I command him to use the strongest move I know. "Hyper Beam!" I yell, and it grunts like its having constipation. It stops concentrating and then pants. "Fine, be that way. Tackle!" I say to it, and it barrels into the strange man with the black and green uniform. He picks up something from the ground and runs away.
