England's Hero

Robin reached for her hand. He couldn't believe what he was seeing. It was his Marion. Her face, her body, her voice. Just as before. He was certain he was dreaming and yet when he touched her, she didn't disappear. Her hand was cold against his - or was it the other way around? He couldn't be sure.

'The greatest adventure is yet to come' her soft and gentle voice told him. It was the voice of the love of his life. His Marion, always his, Gisbourne had even admitted it. Marion helped Robin up to his feet.

He cupped her face in his hand. 'My wife' he said quietly.

'Forever and always, my Love' replied Marion.

Robin leaned towards her and they kissed. It was a kiss that told so much of loss and time passed. Of memories and pain and a love that neither life nor death could destroy. Neither of them wanted to end it, they wanted this moment to last forever, as they wrapped their arms around each other's necks and pulled each other closer. Eventually, naturally, the kiss ended. Marion and Robin looked at each other, broad smiles on both their faces, before they pulled into a hug and held on tightly. Robin picked Marion up off the ground and spun her around.

After Robin put Marion down, she looked seriously at him. 'Robin' she caressed his face 'Oh my, Robin Hood. You have done so much good for England. But your story is not yet over.' She placed her hand over the cut on Robin's neck gently. 'England's not ready to lose a hero just yet'

Robin placed his hand over Marion's on his neck. He was too confused to say anything. He just looked at her. It had been so long since her had seen her, he just wanted to stay with her.

'Goodbye, my Robin Hood' Marion whispered 'I will see you again'

He finally found words, but none to ask her what she meant. He simply replied 'Goodbye, my Marion'

Robin Hood woke up in a daze. He could remember exactly what had happened, but it didn't seem real. And yet it had to have been real because it saved his life. He didn't know what she did, or how, but his Marion had saved his life. She never stopped being there for him. He looked across the forest, half expected to see her standing there, but not really surprised when she wasn't.

Using the tree to steady him, Robin pulled himself to his feet. After a moment or disorientation, he remembered his way around. He walked slowly toward the outlaws camp. Once he reached there, they all stared at him for an unsure moment.

'Apparently, England's not ready to lost a hero just yet' he smiled. The outlaws ran up to him and almost knocked him to the ground with the power of their hugs. He laughed slightly, then seriously said 'We've got work to do. And remember--'

Together they all said 'WE ARE ROBIN HOOD'
