Requiem
A Queer as Folk Drabble.
The first time he ever saw him, he was leaning against a telephone pole outside of Babylon. He was young. Very young. And very new to Liberty Avenue. But he was trying to act cool, like he belonged there.
The first time, he noticed him, not because he was particularly hot (he was cute, mind you), but because he was someone he had not yet slept with. A new conquest. And when he walked toward him, he stepped in a puddle and it was as if he was being baptized into this new life.
The last time he ever saw him, they were laying side by side, panting in post coital bliss. He wasn't quite so young. He wasn't new. He was no longer acting, and yet he belonged.
The last time, he noticed him because he loved him. He had taken him, and yet he couldn't let him go. When he woke up in bed alone, knowing he was gone to New York, it was as if he was being pulled from this life, and he baptized himself with his tears.
