A/N: To those of you who are waiting for the continuation of my story 'A Day in the Life of Major General Jack O'Neill', I'm sorry for keeping you all waiting. Don't worry, I have not given up on it (yet...). However, this popped into my head as I was biking home from work today and I just felt I had to write it... after all, Doc Frasier is my favourite reoccuring character on the show. Damn them for killing her off...
Jack could hear the quiet sobbing coming from the bedroom as he entered the door. He put down the bag of groceries he was carrying in the kitchen and almost tiptoed to the bedroom, peeking inside. There he saw Sam sitting on the floor in a corner, arms clutching her legs to her chest, quietly crying. He hated seeing her cry.
'Hey, what's up,' he asked. Sam looked up at Jack, dried her face with her sleeve, and said 'nothing.'
'Nothing my behind. I know you too well,' he replied with half a smile. Sam let out a small laugh trying to hold back her tears. She placed he head on her arms and said 'I miss her.' Jack knew exactly whom she was talking about. 'We all miss her.'
'Today's the "anniversary",' Sam said. 'Eight years ago…'
Jack had walked into the room, and plopped himself down next to Sam, and hugged her close to him. Sam leaned into him, and cried. After a few minutes, Jack tried to speak up. 'Damn Goa'uld…' was all he could think off.
'It's not fair,' Sam said.
'It's never fair,' Jack tried to comfort her.
'Here we were, running around this Galaxy and the next for 15 years, and never once did we die,' Sam said, gaining a look from Jack. She smiled, and continued: 'permanently. But then, one of the few times she goes off-world, she gets killed by some stupid errant Staff blast. It's not fair, God-damn it!'
'I know,' Jack said, kissing Sams head. 'I know…' There was silence. After a minute, Sam spoke up. 'Jack, why did you schedule the barbecue today?'
'Guess I kinda forgot…'
'Yeah. Can we do it some other day?'
'Heck no! Today is no day for sitting in a dark room crying. We're having the First Annual Doc Frasier Memorial Barbecue today, and that's that.'
'The First Annual Doc Frasier Memorial Barbecue?' Sam asked, her eyes questioning Jack.
'Sure. Why not? Lets make it a tradition. We all enjoy some nice meat, and sit around recollecting the good ol' days.' Jack said, winning a large smile from Sam.
'Sounds wonderful.'
'OK. Now come on, I have to finish getting the groceries in, and Teal'c will be here any minute. He's quite a cook you know.' Jack said, and Sam smiled, as they both got up. Holding Sam tight, Jack lead her out of their bedroom.
'The First Annual Doc Frasier Memorial Barbecue… I like it,' Sam laughed.
