AN: Enjoy.

Trivette stared aimlessly at his old desk and waited impatiently. The paper clip in his hand had already been twisted in every which way, and eventually he placed it on top of the others that were piling up. After that he took to surfing the net, which wasn't very successful either.

Every time the Company B doors swung open, Jimmy Trivette, would let go of the paper clip in his hand, and decide whether or not he recognized who was coming in.

After about thirty more minutes and ten paper clips later, the door swung open and the person Trivette was waiting for entered.

He stood up and squirmed his way through the group to shake the mans hand and introduce himself.

"Ranger James Trivette…and you are?"

"Michael Todd, pleasure to meet you sir."

Trivette was having a hard time, keeping a smile on his face through the exchange. It had been a year since he'd lost Walker, and he'd prepared himself to say these words for the last 365 days.

"You're my new partner." He uttered them as slowly as he could, making sure to annunciate each word, having practiced the phrase in front of his mirror multiple times the night before.

Ranger Todd nodded and a smile fell across his face. "I am so privileged Ranger, I never thought they'd choose me to replace Ranger Walker."

The words pierced through Trivette's ears, and his face cringed slightly.

"He's irreplaceable Michael."

He turned towards his desk and sat down, pushing the pile of paperclips down towards the garbage can beside his desk.

Ranger Todd, beat himself up for a few seconds before pacing over to Trivette's desk. "I didn't mean to say that he was sir…I just…well…I'm just sorry."

Trivette nodded in understanding and pointed. "That's your desk right there. Not much going yet today, I'll get the call, and you follow my lead…we clear?"

He shook his head. "Crystal…So what should I call ya?"

He thought for a moment, not sure what to say. "Whatever is fine."

"I like Trivitt."

He laughed as he remember Walker's struggle to get his name right when they first met. "No, Todd, Tri-vEtte…get it right, or get going." He pointed towards the door jokingly. Trivette then patted his tummy softly. "You up for some breakfast kid?" He grabbed his hat and stood up, Todd doing the same.

"Sure. Where we headed?"

The two walked out side by side, and Trivette hap hazardly threw his hand over his new partner's shoulders. "CD's Bar & Grill, I want you to meet a good friend of mine…"
