One of my first fanfics. It's a little short, and I didn't spend a lot of time on it, but I hope to improve in the future.

I hope you enjoy it! I appreciate feedback, so don't be afraid to leave a comment!

Alone

Cold wind was rushing through the leaves in the trees surrounding various spots in Inaba. It was quiet in the streets, not even sounds of chirping and croaking could be heard. Only the wind and the leaves blowing in the trees could be heard, but even that was not enough to break the silence. The shopping district was empty and hollow, all of the people that would usually cramp up the place were most likely in their homes, sleeping.

A yawn was heard in the hallways of the silent, dark hospital. Looking through the windows, Yu sighed. Ever since Sayoko left, he felt more lonely in the hospital than ever before. He had someone to look up to. Sayoko's strong will encouraged him to do whatever he could for the investigation team and Inaba. It was thanks to his friends that Yu became stronger, he couldn't have ever done all the things he did without them. He knew Sayoko's decision was a wise one, but when she left, the job felt.. odd. It felt like a regular, boring job. At first, all she did was try to seduce him, but, after that, he realized the reason behind it all. She was lonely, and now he felt the same way as well.
Even if he did feel lonely, he was satisfied, he was glad that he helped her pull through. He smiled, not regretting having those memories. As he put down the rag, he turned to his left, slowly making steps forward to exit the lonely hospital. As he stood outside, cold wind blew onto his face. He rubbed his hands together, attempting to warm up. Cold nights in Inaba were common, but this time, it was nearly freezing.
Yu was nearly shivering, not used to the very cold weather. As he was about to continue walking, he felt something buzz. Reaching for his pocket, he took out his phone and flipped it open. The name on the screen was his partner's, Yosuke Hanamura. As he answered, he immediately heard the voice on the other side of the phone.

"Hey, Yu! I know it's kinda late and I usually wouldn't call ya unless it was for the Midnight Channel, but hear me out! Today's Sunday, so I thought that maybe we could go to the beach again. Last time was fun, but it sure as hell was awkward too!"
Yu chuckled to himself. He considered it for a second, then responded.
"Well.. Sure, I'll meet you at the food court tomorrow, then."
"Alright, awesome! Oh, right, I wish Nanako-chan the best. She needs it, considering she's still struggling a little.. Poor girl.. I'll make sure to visit her once in a while. Anyway, good night, partner."
Yu was glad that his friends cared so much for his cousin, or, as he now considers her, his little sister. Even though Yosuke can be a little insensitive at times, he doesn't mean it, and he's a friendly person at heart. As he wished good night back, he hung up and put his phone back into his pocket.
Yu wasn't paying a lot of attention while he was walking, as he found himself in front of the Dojima residence. Taking his keys, he unlocked the front door, and stepped inside, shutting the door behind him. Taking in the warm air of the now-empty living room, he muttered to himself.
"Welcome home, big bro.."
