Affinity - Chapter 1 - Signed

Signed! Adam Pearce had finally signed a contract with WWE. After months of phone calls, negotiations, and battling his own thoughts inside his head, the deed had been done.

Adam had first got the call from the head offices of the company in December, just one day after officially announcing his retirement from professional wrestling: the sport that he fell in love with from a young age. He expected it really, considering all of the successful work he'd done with the WWE and it's developmental territory, NXT over the past year. Pearce had worked as a guest coach and trainer over that period of time but the contract that he had just signed was permanent. On the drive to WWE Headquarters, he'd thought about declining it but he quickly discarded the thought moments later and left it only as that (a thought) as he recalled how monotonous and boring his life had become over the past five months since retiring. Now, May 19th 2015, the day he'd been dreaming of since 1995 had arrived: the day he finally signed a contract with WWE.

After twenty years of sleeping on gym mats, night in and night out, Adam thought that he'd never live his dream, especially now that he was a thirty six year old man, years past his sell by date. The contract that he now had ensured that he wouldn't be sleeping on gym mats for low paying indy promotions. Not only because this was the big leagues, but also because this wasn't a wrestler's contract; this was a contract for an NXT trainer. Low hours, high pay, big mansion. This was the high life that Adam had always wanted.

This wasn't the first time that Adam Pearce had recieved a contract offer from a huge promotion. In the late nineties, he was offered a contract with then major rival of WWE, WCW. However, he declined the offer as he didn't feel that a move to Georgia was a viable option for him at the time. Although Florida (the state where he would have to move to for his NXT contract) and Georgia are practically neighbours, Adam now felt more capable of a big move than he was almost two decades ago.

Adam's first job with his new company would be tomorrow: NXT Takeover Unstoppable. He was unsure, however, what he would be doing at the event. Whatever it was though, he was sure to enjoy it...
