Gale had always loved Katniss. It may have not been since the first time he met her, or nicknamed her Catnip, but it was long enough ago he couldn't remember when he started to.
He never knew how to tell her; he was afraid that if he did, it would ruin their friendship, and ultimately everything else. But it was the second the baker's boy called Peeta stepped on the stage that he knew it was too late. He would win Gale's sweet Katniss's heart; if someone didn't kill him first.
So Gale was always jealous of Peeta, mainly because of Peeta's way of sharing his feelings openly. Gale, who was more of a tough guy with a soft heart, couldn't do that. He had no idea how. So Peeta and Katniss left to go fight in the Hunger Games, and love each other along the way, leaving a broken-hearted Gale back in District 12.
And when a heart is broken, and not helped, it can mend back a little crooked.
Trying to fill the void, Gale kissed many girls, went out with them, made love, but nothing felt right. He wanted his Katniss, his only love.
Oh, right, she was currently being stolen by the baker's boy.
Then Katniss came home from the Hunger Games (along with that stupid baker's kid) and kissed him and said she loved him. Gale was happy at first, but then soon grew angry. How could she? Saying she loved him after she spent most of the Hunger Games kissing the baker's boy?
He distrusted her, but tried his hardest to convince himself she was just conflicted. That's all, just conflicted.
And yet she kept going back to Peeta, even though Gale and Katniss had been through a lot of hardships.
Madge, who was just like Gale in the situation, was heart-broken too. So the two found comfort in each other, and finally love.
Gale, who didn't want to break Madge's heart by starting to Katniss again, quickly proposed Madge and insisted that after the rebellion, they would move to another district. Madge agreed, for she too didn't want to love Peeta again.
Katniss was angry at Gale for "dropping of the face of Panem", but she knew deep down it was her fault. She got married to Peeta, who was ecstatic she said yes, but deep down, she missed Gale and wanted to be with him. Peeta sensed that too, but said nothing. He had stolen Katniss from Gale, that was all that mattered.
So Gale now lives happily in another district, with Madge and their two beautiful children. Katniss and Peeta, however, are living unhappily with their two (ugly) children.
~~THE END!~~
I love this version! Sorry about all those people out there who are team Peeta people, but I just felt that I needed this. BTW, Peeta rhymes with (stinky) feet-a! :p
Happy Hunger Games!
