Player Character once though he had it all figured out. A life of adventure, going town to town. Staying just long enough to earn enough bells to go to the next place. He never once considered staying long anywhere. That is until he arrived in this town. A town so desperate for leadership they took the first person off the train, and made him mayor.
Even then, however, he didn't want to stay. Figuring he help out a while and make some bells and leave. He was so distracted by bringing back the town to it's rightful glory he lost track of time. Several years of working. Several years of paying off public works projects. YEARS of dealing with complaints! It was time to go, having grown board of trying new projects. Board of trying to keep the citizens happy. Just board, period.
He knew he'll be letting everyone down. He had made some very good friends here that he'd truly miss. That's why he had to do this in secret. It might be cowardly but it was better then having to face tears.
He would slowly sell his "unneeded" stuff at real-tail at a price he knew someone would grab. He wasn't concerned about bells. He just wanted enough to buy passage to the next town. The last part of the plan was to pack very lightly. Only the things he couldn't bear to lose. This part made him pause. Every other time he'd move he never took anything but the clothes on his back and maybe a handful of bells. This time, he packed three things into his back pack. He didn't know why these three things.
Until last night after she knocked on his door. He should've known better then try to hid it from her. She was way more intelligent then the rest of the citizens. She noticed the patterns in his behavior. She came to talk him out of it. When he said he wanted to go and do other things, she broke down and cried. She said the town needed him. That she needed him. That she had fallen in love with him. It was so clear to him the moment she wrap her arms around him, sobbing into his chest. The reason he didn't leave before now...It wasn't because the town need him. It was because he too had slowly fallen in love. The first time in his life. How could he not? She was so cheery and so eager to help. She always a smile and positive attitude.
In the light of the dawn he looked into his back pack at the three items: Paw Print wall paper, a lantern, and a pear. All gifts from her. That's why he couldn't leave them behind. He felt someone put a paw on his shoulder.
"Mayor...You're still leaving?"
He turned to her. She was holding his sheet around her. He smiled "No Isabelle I'm unpacking. You're stuck with me."
Her smile was so bright he knew he had made the right decision.
