Hello! So I've been looking all over for a Pride and Prejudice Cinderella story, but sadly I could not find one. So I decided to write it myself! Funny how my stories always seem to start out like that...

Mr. and Mrs. Bennet were often said to be the happiest and most well matched couple in the neighborhood. They adored each other, and their two little girls Jane and Lizzy. Jane was a little blond angel and Lizzy was a very mischievous toddler, much like her father at that age. They were not the wealthiest family in the neighborhood, but they loved each other and led very happy lives, until Mrs. Bennet became gravely ill.

She died soon after, leaving her husband without a wife and her girls without a mother. Mr. Bennet knew that no matter how painful it was, he would have to remarry for his daughters' sakes. He would not be able to raise them to become proper young ladies on his own and he could not afford a governess. After the proper period of mourning he began searching for a wife and settled for a pretty widow with one daughter who was a little younger than Lizzy and Jane. The new Mrs. Bennet was nothing like his first wife. She was silly and prone to fits of nerves. Her daughter Mary, who also took her new stepfather's name, was very plain. Because of her appearance, Mrs. Bennet was never quite happy with Mary and ignored her most of the time. She would try everything to get her mother's attention, but it never worked. Mr. Bennet tried to be nice to Mary. He taught her to read and would invite her to sit in his study with him and read. This was not, however, a very ladylike pursuit, so Mrs. Bennet continued to pay no attention to Mary. Mary quickly abandoned reading with her stepfather in favor of trying to teach herself to play the pianoforte and to develop any other skills that young ladies were expected to possess.

Mrs. Bennet also tried to take no notice of Jane and Lizzy. She was jealous that they were beautiful, healthy little girls while her Mary was plain and sickly. She also envied the attention given to them by their father. To her it was further proof that he did not love her and that he married her only so she could care for them. Mrs. Bennet resented them for it.

For the first several years of her second marriage Mrs. Bennet was miserable, but once Kitty was born she began to cheer up. After Lydia came along, Mrs. Bennet seemed truly happy, though she was still exceedingly silly. Kitty and Lydia were beautiful babies and Mrs. Bennet thought that perhaps they would grow up to be even more lovely that Jane or Lizzy.

Sixteen Years Later…

Kitty and Lydia had grown into handsome young ladies, but even Mrs. Bennet knew that Jane was the beauty of the county, closely followed by Lizzy. After years of listening to people compliment her stepdaughters while ignoring her three girls, Mrs. Bennet's jealousy had almost consumed her.

I hope you liked it! Please tell me what you think!
