In his Colossal Titan form, Bertolt crushed Annie's crystal. He quickly returned to his human form, sweat dripping from all over his body. He tried to regain his breathing from his change as he used the last reserves of his energy to catch Annie in his arms.
She was light and landed with a thump, but he carried all of her. If he could hold his Colossal Titan form, he was sure he could hold her. After all, nothing was more powerful than a one-sided love.
But then again, was it one-sided? There could be a chance that Annie—
No. She couldn't; a lone wolf couldn't love a coward with no will.
It felt as if all he could do was watch. He didn't want to overstep the boundaries. There were times where Bertolt wasn't sure he could trust Annie fully, much less trust himself. But here he was, saving the queen from her crystal castle, which had always protected her from some unknown force that Bertolt had never known.
She was breathing as he brushed away her messy hair, and he just wanted to give her his all. But would she allow it?
As she slowly opened her eyes, he gave a heartbreaking laugh of relief.
And the queen in her vulnerable state gave a smile.
"Thank you, Bertl," Annie said, inhaling and exhaling now with great effort.
He didn't say anything. All he could do was hug her in his gross state.
"I'm sorry, Annie. For what they did to you." He pulled her closer to make sure she was alive.
"They tricked you Bert." Annie could feel his skin steam from his transformation.
He gritted his teeth and, when he couldn't hold in his breath anymore, he let out a yell: "I just want to go home!"
Annie put her head to his and her lips were so close, but she was long gone, in her lone wolf mode.
"We will," she said with a distant look in her eyes, her voice growing softer, fading into the distance.

"Annie?" Bert jolted up from his sleep on a tall tree, drenched in sweat, waking up from yet another nightmare of Annie haunting him. The tall trees swayed, creating a breeze that cooled him down.
His chest wound throbbed with a not-so-dull ache, and he sat frozen as the ridges in the tree scratched at him, as if trying to throw him off because he was unworthy—because he had yet to save Annie.
On another tree, Reiner was on lookout. "You okay, Bertl?" he asked, shifting his position to see his friend through the dark.
Bertolt looked into the distance. All he could do was stare, wishing that if he actually put his all into it, then his crystal queen would come back.

Just needed to get a Bert x Annie drabble out. There seriously isn't enough love for this couple.
So here's is my first Shingeki fanfic, tell me what you thought of it by leaving a review.
