Dylan's eyes widened. "Are you serious?" he said in such a voice that made me smirk with satisfaction. I nodded.
I let out my wings and flew up to the roof. I balanced on the edge and looked at Dylan expectantly. He extended his swings, veerrryy slowly, and shakily flew up to the roof. Man, he was bad. I backed away to make room for him. He went to the edge and left his wings out.
"Tut, tut!" I said excitedly. "Wings in."
Dylan slowly brought his wings back in. Then I placed one hand on his spine. I halfway thought of not counting and not giving him a chance to prepare, but thought better of it.
"One, two, three."
I gave him a hard shove. Dylan staggered and dropped. He didn't extend his wings, and the ground was speeding closer to his face.
Get him, Max! Get him! My voice howled. I silently told it to shut its yap, and then jumped.
I plummeted and shouted, "Your wings, idiot! Let out your wings!"
Dylan's wings extended with a fwip, and they filled with wind. He gasped.
"Now, let them fill, and just...fly."
I extended my own wings and let the wind caress the feathers. I breathed in the air and flew downwards to Dylan. He had landed on a tree. "Come on. If you want to learn, you gotta do it!" I grabbed his arms and gave him a sharp pull out of the branches. Dylan gasped and didn't flap his wings. Now, a guy with plenty of muscles and hollow bones, not able to give his wings one tiny flap? Unacceptable.
"Flap!" I shouted, before dropping him. He screamed, but then flapped his wings. He sped upwards. "Now you're getting it!"
I engaged myself in aerial acrobatics and watched him do the basics: up, down, left, right, forward, backward. He didn't miss a beat.
"Come on, let's go back."
Dylan laughed and flew up to me. He extended his arms, expecting me to give him a hug. I glared at him and decided to tease him a little bit.
"Race you back."
He stared in shock as I shot off at the speed of light.
