The prompt for this week was: "Write about the first time Lars and Sadie had to work together at the Big Donut after the events shown in Island Adventure."
Working at the Big Donut was, admittedly, not the most fun job per se. Sadie liked it for the most part, but practically running a shop at the ripe old age of sixteen? Eh. Could be better.
But today, she expected work to be more than just "not fun." Today was likely to be pure torture.
She had managed to separate hers and Lars's shifts for a little while, but now it was rush season, and they had to do shifts together or else not be able to keep up.
Time to face the music, she told herself. She could hear Steven's little song playing in her head as she thought this. Ugh. Not that kind.
She wondered what Lars would say to her. After all, the whole thing was her fault since she hid the warp pad from them. Would he be mad at her?
She walked into the store to see that Lars was already there. "Oh… Hi, Lars," she stammered. "You're-you're here early…"
"Yeah, I learned how to get here early since I had to start opening on my own," he said.
"Oh… yeah, um…" Dangit! He's probably mad at me! "Well… the first few people should be coming in any second…"
"Hey, Sadie?"
"Yeah?"
"That was kinda not so great, what you did."
"Yeah… Lars, I'm so sorry—"
"—It's okay. I mean… we did have a really good time." Lars turned away from her to start stocking.
"Yeah, we did." Sadie dared to crack a smile while his back was turned.
"Oh, and Sadie?"
"Yeah?"
Lars turned around without warning and kissed her. "I forgive you."
