A/N Well hey guys! I have a lot to write at this point, so I shouldn't even be writing a spur of the moment Makorra fic. But I kind of have to, considering how many Makorra feelings were all over Tumblr today. So in reality, I have no regrets whatsoever. Like…none. This is based off basically one of my FAVORITE tracks from the LOK soundtrack, "Lost My Heart in Republic City". It's just GORGEOUS and PRETTY and makes my start crying because obviously the scene with that song is going to involve Mako and Korra slow dancing. JUST SAYIN', I CALLED IT.

"Mako, I don't know what I'm doing. Everyone's going to think I'm a fool-I don't dance, and I definitely don't dance with strangers."

Mako laughed as he watched the nervous Avatar fiddle with the hem of her glittery flapper dress. Korra still wasn't used to going to public events as her famous self-it almost always took one of the boys to talk her into actually showing up.

"Korra, you're gonna be fine. Bolin and I are gonna dance with you so long that nobody else will. And I can show you how to dance." as Korra raised an eyebrow, Mako walked over to the radio and turned it on. After flipping a few stations, he found the perfect song-mellow and slow. Turning to Korra, he took her hand in his and placed it on his shoulder; and placed his own hand on her waist. Korra looked up at him. "What do I do now?" she asked, almost inaudibly. Mako smiled slightly and let his feet rock slowly back and forth.

"Nothing. Just sway to the music." he said, and they danced in the low light in the brothers' home. After a little while, Korra leaned forward, put her arms around Mako's torso; and put her head on his chest. She heard his heartbeat beneath his suit, strong and steady. Ba-dum ba-dum ba-dum…like a steady drum.

The two stayed like that for the longest time, slowly rocking to the slow music. When the song ended, Korra lifted her head up slowly and pressed her lips gently to Mako's. Still swaying, they kissed for the longest time. When they broke apart, Mako raised his hand to her face and slowly brushed some hair away.

"Korra, I…" he started. Korra looked at him, gently pressing him on.

"Yeah?" she asked quietly. Mako opened his mouth to continue his sentence, then closed it abruptly and looked down.

"You're going to be fine at the dance. I gotta go find Bolin."
