Halo
He knew when she started working for him, that his heart wouldn't stand a chance. All the walls he had carefully erected around his heart, crumbled under the weight of her presence in his mind. He resisted for a short time, but she was inevitable, like time.

She wormed her way into his heart. He always asked her, rather than ordered, unless absolutely necessary, and he said please. He brought her coffee when they were working, something he never did with anyone else, even Ducky, his closest friend. His team knew he had it bad though, because he absolutely never head slapped Kate. She awoke something in him that hadn't been seen since his first marriage, to Shannon. Kate made him throw out some of the rules, just because of her presence.

It didn't take long for him to admit that he would never be able to live without her, and that she was more than worth the risk. She saved him from himself, and he didn't like to think about where he'd be if she hadn't entered his life when she did. He had his angel. It was only a small wait until she would be truly his. And he could wait patiently for her. He'd already waited his entire life.
