Hello, dears. This is my first foray into the SJA fandom so I hope you will judge this kindly. Enjoy :) xx

Sarah Jane had decided that the attic had become far too cluttered. So it was that she, Luke, Clyde and Rani were on their hands and knees sorting through a multitude of boxes. As each object was taken out, Sarah Jane would tell the story behind it.

"This," she said, taking out an old looking necklace, "I bought from a market on a planet in the Andromeda galaxy when we were –"

"Hey, what's this?" Rani cut across her, brandishing an envelope.

"Private," Sarah Jane replied, removing the envelope from the girl's hand.

"Oh, go on. Tell us," Rani pleaded.

"Absolutely not," Sarah Jane said firmly. "It's personal."

The teens looked crestfallen, but they knew when they were beaten. Sarah Jane could be very stubborn and she clearly wasn't going to be persuaded on this one. They went quietly back to their sorting.

Later that evening, once Luke had gone to bed and the others had gone home, Sarah Jane took the envelope out again. After several minutes of staring at her name on the front she opened the envelope and withdrew the letter. She hadn't read it for years.

My dear Sarah,
There is no knowing where I shall be when you read this. But I am certain that, no matter where I am, I will be thinking of you. I will never forget you. The way you feel, smell, taste. You are special in so many ways and you have made me what I am today.
Last night was the best of my life. Thank you for letting me show you how I feel. But you already knew didn't you, my darling.
Don't forget me.
All my love,
The Doctor.

She sat for a long moment, digesting, remembering. Everything that had happened during her time with the Doctor was still very fresh in her mind and this was particularly clear. She closed her eyes and let the memories flood in.

The Doctor watched as Sarah Jane walked into the room. Her overalls may not have been the most flattering outfit she had ever worn, but she was still beautiful. She sat down next to him and he wrapped his arms around her, pulling her closer.

As she relaxed against him she sighed sadly. "I can't believe this is it," she said softly.

"I know," he replied. "I wish you didn't have to go."

Despite her best efforts, Sarah Jane began to cry. In response, the Doctor stroked her hair soothingly. "I love you," she whispered, her voice barely audible.

"I love you too, Sarah," he murmured, pressing a light kiss to her temple.

She raised her head to look into his eyes and smiled shyly. His eyes had always made her melt. Tentatively she leaned forward to kiss him. Several light kisses soon became more urgent as they succumbed to their feelings. She shrieked and giggled as he unexpectedly picked her up and carried her away.

Some time later, Sarah Jane lay blissfully in the Doctor's embrace. Absent-mindedly she allowed one hand to trace slow circles on his arm. He caught her rogue hand, brought it to his lips and kissed the fingertips.

"Even your fingers are beautiful," he mused.

She smiled and snuggled closer to his side. "Be quiet and cuddle me," she murmured sleepily.

They slept cuddled together, their last moments together spent just as they wished. Then the morning came, the spell was broken and she had to leave.

Sarah Jane opened her eyes and shook herself from the recollection. She imagined she could still feel his soft lips and gentle hands; still hear his voice telling her she was beautiful.

"I love you, Doctor," she whispered to the empty room.
