Gumball Contained

Chapter 1

I own nothing

A man in his sixties is sitting in a room, he has white hair, an eyepatch, and thick stubble. The only things in the room are a table and two chairs. A door opens and a bald man in a lab coat carrying a file enters. He sits at the table and opens the file, looking over the contents before addressing the man "agent Sarge, tell me what you and your team discovered while you were searching for SCP-106" he asked.

Sarge nodded "well we were trekking through the woods, had our special flashlights at the ready in case that rotting dirtbag showed up" he began. "just before we discovered the new SCP we got a call that Church's team managed to bag it. We were ready to head back when Donut noticed some lights in the distance, he got his binoculars and saw it was a town. The weird thing about it was there weren't any towns in the area, especially not as big as this one. We radioed in and requested permission to investigate, Kimball gave us the go ahead and we moved in."

"When we got near the border we noticed the air looked slightly distorted, I told Grif to walk through. After some arguing the lazy bastard went through and he came back out, told us how things were even weirder. We went in and it was honest to god day time, outside the border it was midnight but inside it was noon." "There was an anomalous time difference" the bald man asked, Sarge nodded "yeah and that wasn't even the weirdest thing, not by a long shot" he said. "We called in to Kimball, she told to investigate the town, see if we could make contact with any inhabitants."

"We had our guns ready and moved in, the town looks like any other town; modern cars, normal buildings, no weird weather." "It was the people that were weird" Sarge said "how so" the bald man asked. Sarge sighed "if it weren't for working for the foundation I would have thought I'd lost it; the people were anthropomorphic animals, objects, even food. Funny thing is they thought we were the weird ones." The bald man looked over the papers in the file "it says here the people weren't hostile" he said.

Sarge nodded "yeah; that's the thing that made us nervous, usually in an anomalous area that's inhabited you got inhabitants that either want to rip your guts out as soon as they see you or they become hostile at the slightest provocation. But the people here behaved like anyone else; no cults dedicated to alien gods that'll melt your eyeballs just from looking at them, no cannibals that'll eat you alive piece by piece, no insane super computer dictator with an army of robots, it was like an average town." The bald man hummed "I can see why you'd be nervous, in our line of work the most harmless looking things can be the most dangerous" he said. Sarge nodded before continuing "anyway; we made our way to the town hall and met the mayor, he actually looked human except he was mostly head with tiny arms and legs. We talked to him and that's when we called in the foundation."

"That's about it Dr. Gears" Sarge said. Gears looked over the papers before nodding "that will be all agent Sarge, thank you for your help." Sarge nodded and left the room. Gears signed a document, on it was SCP-4000: Elmore, class: safe.
