Pieces

The first piece

He ran as fast as he could, away from the group chasing him. Regret creeping up by the neck as fast as those chasing him down. Was this really going to be the end of it all, after so much work? He ran as fast as he could, his legs giving in with each stride. He carried on; his strength fading fast along with the distant echoes of war screams in what would soon be the biggest graveyard in all of the worlds combined. The sounds of his uneven footsteps on the endless dirt valley only deepened his regret for that one choice that could have saved his life. The choice he should have never refused. His running was forcefully stopped at the sight of another group running towards him. He tried turning to run another way only to find his path blocked my more enemies. In the blink of an eye he was already surrounded.

"Stop running and fight back! This is the war we were trained for! The war for the light." Despite the proximity of the voice his exhaustion didn't allow him to identify where it came from. "Say something!" another voice demanded

"We were never supposed to fight each other! We were supposed to get rid of the darkness not become it! Strengthen the light, not take it for ourselves!" he closed his eyes, his breath heavy and tense.

"Corvus… if you're not going to fight, you might as well die with the rest of them!" a myriad of chimes were heard in rapid succession. Corvus gripped his large hat and pulled it closer to his head. With a chime, a key shaped blade was summoned onto his hand. He gripped it tightly as if his life depended on it.

"Not a single one of you are worthy to have ever wielded a keyblade. Now, Freeze!" Corvus swung his keyblade around his body, releasing a blasting stream of ice crystals in a perfect circle. His opponents were encased in the blast, becoming beautiful ice statues. He let out a deep breath, loosening the grip on his keyblade. He pulled it up in front of his face, its glow reflecting on his bright, blue eyes.

"My starlight… if I had known things would have ended up this way, I would have never refused Master Ava's offer. Most of my Union is dead anyway." He continued walking, his legs almost nonresponsive. He could hear the clashing of countless keyblades in the distance, choosing to ignore it, he carried on.

Eventually his knees gave way; he fell weakly on the ground. Looking up to the sky, his eyes were filled with the light of a heart shaped moon glimmering above. Several pools of darkness began forming around him. From within them, yellow dots began to glow, and seemed to be staring into his soul. He removed his hat from his head and let the wind drift it away, revealing a set of pointed ears and spiky blue hair.

"I won't be needing this anymore. The darkness is already here, but I can't fight anymore. Kingdom Hearts… I give up. Take my heart. Don't let the darkness take me." He whispered weakly as he opened his arms.

A swirling blue, purple and black mist formed underneath his body. It grew, surrounding him completely, slowly sinking him inside. His eyes gently closed as he fell into a deep sleep.
