Hey guys, this is my first X-Men story, I hope you like it. I saw X2 again yesterday and it inspired me to write this, please tell me what you think. This takes place after the last movie.

I own nothing

Maddy Drake sat on the couch hugging a pillow on the verge of tears. Her family was falling apart. It had been almost two years since she's seen her oldest son, the same son that her husband and younger son no longer considered family. Ronny had stated that he hated Bobby on many occasions; it hurt Maddy's heart to hear her son say things like that. William on the other hand was a whole different story; he tried to avoid the subject all together. He really didn't approve of mutants and what Bobby was doing, but he didn't say much about it either.

Mrs. Drake still didn't know what to think, she still hadn't gotten over the shock when Bobby came home with his fellow mutants and revealed his powers to them. She knew Ronny called the police out of jealousy, he'd always been jealous of his older brother. Maddy still doesn't know why she didn't help Bobby, he was her son for goodness sake, she was supposed to protect him. It was heart breaking seeing that look he gave him as he climbed into that X jet, but she knew she deserved it, she failed as a mother.

After that she really didn't know how to feel about Bobby. The feelings were so mixed. She remembers the happy little boy he used to be, and now those precious moments were polluted by that look Bobby gave her as he left. It haunted her. The next time she even saw Bobby was on TV, it was during the Alcatraz incident. She felt absolutely helpless as she saw her son get shot at, but she knew he wasn't defenseless, it was at this moment when she glimpsed how powerful her son was. Even though she'd never admit it she felt proud of him.

Now she sat in front of the TV shaking in fear. Tears stream down her face as the news showed the live footage from the current battle taking place in New York. The X-men were fighting the sentinels. Bobby was one of the ones leading the charge. Maddy almost didn't recognize him; it was strange seeing her son made of ice. He looked so fragile that way; she was scared that one of the giant robots would shatter him at any moment. It was agonizing to watch but she couldn't peel her eyes from the screen.

She just couldn't bear it sometimes, it hurt to see her son in so much danger, but what hurt the most was seeing her family in pieces. They weren't whole since Bobby walked through the door for what would probably be the last time. It was clear that he wasn't coming back they didn't deserve his forgiveness.

She missed him; she missed her son so much. She faced this pain day after day, seeing Bobby on the news and whatnot, but there was nothing she could do to stop it. She wasn't ready to let Bobby go like her husband and younger son had. Her heart wouldn't allow it. She still silently wished that she could see Bobby face to face again, but that would probably never happen, he was gone for good. Maybe someday she'd be able to accept that too, but not yet.

Ok I know this story isn't the best, especially the ending this is more of a drabble, please tell me what you think. PLEASE REVIEW!
