In the dark

In the dark I can't see you,

I'm hoping you can't see me too,

I can't let you see the confession in my eyes,

And I bet you're starting to wonder why.

In the dark I can let it all show,

But these things you can never know,

You can't know that I care more than I should,

You can't know that I'd kiss you if I only could,

You can't know that I just want you in my arms,

So I can keep you from harm.

But here's why I hide it all,

As much as I'd love to catch you if you were to fall,

I can't because I have to stay strong,

I have to appear that there's nothing wrong,

And with you my insecurity shows,

And this is why you can never know.

You'll never know how much a care,

You'll never know that I want to hold my arms out and know you'll be there,

You'll never know how much it's killing me and it has since the start,

So I'm lucky you can't see me here in the dark.
