You Can Find Me at the Bottom of the Bottle.

His eyes were bloodshot, his head slumped restlessly in one of his wide hands. His hands were dry and cracked. His right hand curled around the half empty bottle, occasionally bringing the cold glass to his cracked lips allowing the poison to enter his system. His left hand adorned the symbol of his eternal love, however the ring was dented and dirty now. The room was dim like what remained of his soul, and the blues filled the small bar. He had been to this bar every night for two weeks now. He bar hopped as if moving bars and drinking more would kill the aches he had while breathing, and finish off the same nightmare he had since she left.

He had loved her well, he remembered her smile. the smile that gave him reason and hope, the smile he adored had vanished. He could still feel her soft ash blonde hair running through his fingers, how she wore it up in pigtails despite her age. He could heat her soft and kind voice calling his name.

"Soul... lets go on a date tonight..."

His grip tightened around the bottle until his knuckles turned white. Soul shook with emotions, he tried to swallow his pain.

"Why? Why did we have to go on a date that night , why Maka?" He asked out loud, half expecting her to answer, yet he knew she never would.

Letting go of the bottle, his hands gripped at his snow white hair in frustration. Soul shook with each memory of Maka. He remembered how it felt to hold her while she took her final breath. He couldn't save her like he had done countless times before. He could only hold ger close, and wipe he tears from her emerald eyes. He could only kiss her face and say...

"It'll be okay Maka...Stay with me now, I love you, you gotta stay with me...damn...this isnt good..." he felt her shaking hands rest on his tear soaked face. Her weak smile graced her face as she kissed his cheek for the last time. Her now dull green eyes fluttered close "Maka? maka? MAKA!"

He threw back another beer. Soul longed for a stronger drink, with a more bitter taste. He left a handful of bills at the bar before stumbling out of the grimy building.

His uneven footsteps brought him to a 24-hour convenient store. He searched the isle with desperate crimson eyes until he found the three things he came to three things he needed to be with Maka again. A rose,Vodka and a bottle of painkillers.

Soul paid for the three objects and stumbled to the graveyard. Heavy footsteps dragged him to his lover's eternal bed. The cold headstone read her name, birth date and death date.

"Maka Evans...my beloved wife... and only love." Soul kneeled and rested his head on the cold stone that seemed to resemble his heart since she died. He felt her warm embrace, carefully he laid the rose down and whispered mournfully to her ghost.

"We'll be together soon." He opend the vodka and pills. He swallowed each of the pills one by one, drinking the full contents of the vodka bottle. Soul laid beside his wife's grave, closed his eyes and waited until his last breath.

"here lies Soul Eater Evans, Died of a broken heart"
