"I can't keep waiting for you to commit Guy" Connie Moreau was getting fed up with her boyfriend of 11 years, Guy Germaine. The pair had been together since they were eight years old and now they were both 19 and living together. However, Connie was tired of waiting for him to commit to her completely.
She didn't bother waiting for his response as it was always the same, 'I'm not ready Connie, don't push me'.
Guy stood out in the cold staring after her.
You say you want
Diamonds on a
ring of gold
You say you want
Your story to remain untold
But all the promises we make
From the cradle to the grave
When all I want is you
He couldn't understand why she was so upset. She knew how much he loved her but it seemed like, to her a strip of gold with a diamond stuck on it was more important.

Connie wiped her eyes roughly with the sleeve of her sweater as she briskly walked up the steps leading into the three bedroom house they shared. It had been her dream house and Guy had done everything in his power to get if for her.
You say you'll give me
A highway
with no one on it
Treasure just to look upon it
All the
riches in the night
You say you'll give me
Eyes in a moon
of blindness
A river in a time of dryness
A harbour in the
tempest
But all the promises we make
From the cradle to the
grave
When all I want is you
She felt a little silly at going off at him like that again. She knew Guy would give her the world on a silver platter if he could. She sat down on the sofa and kicked off her shoes knowing it would be pointless to go back outside. Guy would come home in his own time.

Guy slowly walked back towards the house he shared with Connie fingering the small velvet covered box in his pocket the entire way. He was almost amused that she hadn't waited for his response to her earlier statement about not being able to wait. He could tell that she thought she knew what his answer would be. This time she was wrong.
You say you want
Your love to
work out right
To last with me through the night
You say
you want
Diamonds on a ring of gold
Your story to remain
untold
Your love not to grow cold
Connie looked up to see Guy enter through the front door shaking the snow from his jacket. She wanted to yell at him to do that outside and not make a mess in the hallway but something made her bite her tongue.
"Hi" he said softly taking his shoes off before making his way over to the sofa. He could see it in her eyes that she was restraining herself from lashing out further. He almost laughed out loud but decided against it. In order for this to work, Connie had to sit still.
"I have something for you" he said smiling. Connie's expression softened as she unconsciously sat up straighter.
"Close your eyes" Guy instructed. Connie obliged just this once. She couldn't really take surprises, she was the type of girl who had to know everything that was going on around her.
Guy took a deep breath. This was it, this was the moment that he went back on all of the reasons he told Connie he didn't want to get married yet. He had just decided to do it, no one else was lucky enough to find their one and only when they were 8 years old.
"Guy what the….." Connie interrupted but stopped when she felt Guy grab her left hand and gently place something on her ring finger. She was almost too afraid to open her eyes just in case all of her hopes and dreams were crushed when she realised that it wasn't what she was hoping for.
"Aren't you going to open your eyes?" Guy asked gently stroking her hair out of her face.
"I don't know" Connie admitted making him laugh.
"You need to if I am to ask you what I want to ask you" Guy teased laughing a little more as Connie's eyes flew open.
She gasped when she saw the diamond on a ring of gold on her finger. "Oh Guy" she whispered tears filling her eyes.
"Its not official until I ask and you accept" Guy whispered taking her hand.
"Connie Moreau, will you make me the happiest man alive and marry me?" he said.
"YES!" she squealed the tears spilling down her cheeks as she gripped him around the neck.
"Yes" she whispered again burying her face into his neck.
All the promises we break
From
the cradle to the grave
When all I want is you
You...all
I want is...
You...all I want is...
You...all I want is...
You...
