Okay so I was not going to start any new fics for awhile, but I was hit by inspiration for my Oppositeverse and to reach this inspiration, I need every Oppositeverse fic to be up. So, in the coming days, I will publish the rest of the Oppositeverse fics. After this new one, I have three more. Two will be on probably less popular archives (I haven't checked, but they probably are) so to read them when they are published, either check my account or type in Oppositeverse on search. I hope you all enjoy this
I don't own Negima
Chapter 1: Off to Mahora!
A young boy sat in his bedroom, looking over a book filled with odd text. Outside, multiple teenagers dressed in robes and graduation caps ran out of the building that the boy was sitting in. He wasn't paying any attention to anything other then his book. His eyes were scanning over every single word before examining each picture that was imprinted on each page. As he began to turn the page, another boy his age threw open the door and ran inside.
"Nio! How do I look?! Wait, are you not ready yet! Graduation begins in twenty minutes! Nekane and Anya are waiting for us!" the boy, Negi Springfield, shouted to the other boy, Nio. Nio's eyes widened at the sound of the people Negi mentioned.
"Oh no! I completely forgot about graduation today! Big Brother, do you know where I placed my robe and cap?" Nio asked Negi who began to think. Nio rested his chin on his fist as he also began thinking only to wipe his bangs out of his face. After a moment, Negi snapped his fingers and pointed over at the drawer next to the bunk bed. Nio quickly rushed over and, after pulling several sets of clothes out, found the graduation items and began throwing them on over his clothes.
Negi watched for a moment before chuckling as Noi tried to reach the zipper on the back. Walking over to his brother, he grabbed the zipper and zipped it up. Nio thanked him before putting the cap on and smiled brightly back at Negi.
"Okay! Lets go!" Negi yelled as he grabbed Nio's hand and yanked him out of their bedroom and down the halls. Nio quickly began moving his feet so he wouldn't get dragged face first on the ground. His brother was way to excited about things at time. But that's why Nio admires him. And also envies him a little.
The boys are twins, well they consider themselves twins since they are only a couple of months apart in age. As both boys got older, they began to wonder if Nio was adopted, but Nekane promised that they were both related to each other and both boys trusted Nekane 100%. They were the sons of the Thousand Master so maybe something went wrong with their mother's magic which caused a delay? They weren't sure, but they were tired of questioning it.
Nio and Negi were both rather close to the age of 10 so they always told everyone that they were 10 years old. Nio was upset though because he was shorter than Negi by a few inches which Negi always brought up when they got in little feuds. Unlike Negi, whose hair was basically a carbon copy of their father's, Nio has long blonde hair that barely reaches pass his shoulders with two silver strands sticking out the top. Both boys wore small glasses.
Both boys share a love of studying, but unlike Negi, Nio was much more secluded. The only people he interacted with was Negi, their cousin Nekane, and their friend Anya. He has trouble interacting with other people due to his severe shyness unlike his brother who was known to easily make friends with people. The boys are also widely known among mages and students because of who their father is. As mentioned, he is known as the Thousand Master. The greatest mage ever.
Their father is famous in the magic community, and he had disappeared ten years ago. It's Negi's dream to become a magister magi and find him. Nio...would like to see his father again, but his main dream is to become a magister magi and make his friends and family proud of him. While he does want to see their father again, he is upset at the fact that their father left them behind and never bothered to visit. He all, but abandoned them.
That kind of pain really affects a child when they realize it. So while he would help Negi in his dream to find their dad, it is not at the top of his priorities. Nio's other dream is to finally step out of his brother's and father's shadows. Everyone expects the two to become great mages since their father was the greatest, and Negi is so great at magic all the other students admire him. Nio on the other hand, he has trouble casting most spells. Everyone always seems to be let down at his lack of talent. The only people who don't mind are Nekane and Negi, who does not notice.
Honestly, Nio was surprised that he even managed to pass the finals, but he wasn't going to look a gift horse in the mouth. He was going to graduate the academy and then brave the unknown that comes with the scroll the graduating students receive. The scrolls task the graduates with an assignment they have to fulfill in order to take one step closer to becoming Magister Magis. While Nio was nervous, he was ready. He was going to make everyone proud.
As the two boys enter the auditorium, they smile as they see their older cousin, Nekane, and their childhood friend Anya. Nio is the quickest of the two to reach Nekane, and he hugs her tightly around the waist while she smiles back at him and hugs him back. Nio eventually lets go and allows Negi to take his turn. After stepping away from them, he turns and blushes at the sight of Anya who was standing there with her arms crossed and a smirk on her face.
"Congratulations Anya," Nio nervously told her while scratching the back of his head. Anya just lets out a small laugh and pats him on the back to calm him down.
"Calm down Nio. While I am shocked you managed to graduate, I am happy that you did. And thanks by the way," Anya told him with a smile on her face causing Nio's face to turn even redder. Nio is about to thank her, ignoring the remark about being surprised he passed, only to stop when he sees her looking at Negi with a flushed face. Sighing, he turns his head and looks over at the lines of students. Nio might be younger than his brother, but he is slightly more mature in the sense that he is able to have a crush on a girl. Sadly, the girl he likes, Anya, has a crush on Negi.
Nio silently groaned at the sight of Anya congratulating Negi with a flushed face before walking over to the line of students. Nekane noticed so she quickly motioned for Negi to follow him with Anya heading to her own spot in line. Negi quickly caught up to Nio and smiled.
"Are you ready to take one step closer on a path to becoming a Magister Magi?" Negi asked his brother who just smiled back.
"Yeah," Nio replied as he looked back up at the Magus. The two boys quickly got in line and smiled as the graduation ceremony began.
After a long two hours, the two boys were happily rushing down the hallways holding their diplomas. "We did it! We did it!" both boys happily shouted while Anya face palmed at the sight and Nekane giggled behind her hand. Finally slowing down, the two boys stopped and looked down at the diplomas in their hands. These were going to decide the next portion of their life. Hesitating for a second, they finally snapped back to attention.
"My diploma states I'm to be a fortune teller in London! What about you guys?" Anya questioned them with Nekane looking on as well. The boys looked back down at their diplomas before looking at each other. This is where they part ways for who knows how long. Taking a second to gulp, they finally unravel their diplomas and wait for their assignment to appear. After a few moments, the assignments appear.
A Teacher in Japan
Watch Over Negi
The group just keep blinking at the diplomas before Nekane and Anya scream for the Magus while the boys keep staring at their diplomas in shock. They were heading to Japan so Negi could be a teacher. And Nio was going to be his brother's what? Bodyguard? Nanny? What? After a few moments of thinking about this, a simple fact caught Nio's attention and kicked him out of his shock. He was going to have to remain in his brother's shadow to watch over him. Are you kidding?!
He let his face fall in the diploma as he groaned. All he wanted was to have his own chance to shine, but now...Eventually he felt Nekane gently take his wrist and lead him down the hall while he heard Anya grab Negi by the collar and do the same with him. The next thing he knew, they were standing in front of the Magus. Nio quietly closed the diploma and faced the Magus.
He heard his older cousin and friend complain about their assignments (with Anya calling both of them shrimps and mentioning that Nio couldn't watch over anybody thanks to not having any talent with magic). Nio felt his heart sink as he heard both that and the Magus explain that he knew the assignments and that they couldn't be changed. Sighing at the fact that even fate seems to want to keep him in Negi's shadow, he decided that he would do his best at his assignment.
Besides there was a silver lining. He got to spend more time with his brother. That was the one thing that he wasn't looking forward to about getting assignments. He might not have gotten to see Negi for years, but at least this way, they could spend time together.
"The diplomas have spoken. I cannot change it. So boys, make sure you dedicate yourselves. The future of Japan's youth are on both of your shoulders. Don't worry though, an old friend of mine runs the academy so the boys will have someone to watch over them," the Magus explained to Nekane before turning to face the boys, "Boys, my friend and your hearts will guide you both. I have full faith that you can accomplish your assignments."
The boys looked at each other which allowed them both to see how nervous the other was. But they were not going to let their nervousness stop them. Turning back to the Magus, they bowed before standing up as straight as possible.
"We promise that we will not disappoint anyone!" both of them yelled causing the Magus to smile before walking away. They high fived before hearing a loud sigh coming from the right. They sweat dropped at the sight of Anya face palming. Nio watched her walk over to Negi so he decided to walk over to Nekane. She still looked worried so Nio gently placed his hand on her arm causing her to look down at him. He smiled up at her ignoring his bangs that were in his eyes.
Nekane sighed before bending down to be eye level with him. She brushed her hand through his hair and gave him a small smile. "Well I guess I have no choice. You two are heading to Japan huh?" Nekane questioned while Nio just nodded his head. She sighed again before hugging him tightly to her chest.
"Well you still have a couple of months before you two have to be in Japan. I think it's time I gave you my graduation gift Nio. Negi, Anya, lets head back to the house okay!" Nekane yelled over to the other two kids. They nodded and the group all followed her out of the house.
Two Months Later
Negi and Nio looked back at Nekane and Anya as they stood there watching them about to board their flight. Smiling sadly, they said their good-byes before turning and heading onto the plane. Ready to begin their new lives.
And chapter end! Okay, like my other Oppositeverse fics, the main character is an OC, this time the brother of Negi. And like my other Oppositeverse fics, the canon main character, in this case Negi, will also remain a main character. He will not be pushed aside so don't worry. I love Negi and Negima is one of, if not my favorite, manga/anime. I don't write fics for it because I have trouble coming up with good plots and the spells (lets face it, they are hard to remember unless you binge read the series over and over).
Okay, this is a harem fic, but the boys will remain 10 (they start out under 10 because Negi was not 10 at the beginning of the series in canon). I hate when I'm reading a Negima fic and they age Negi up just to have a lemon or just continue romance. I don't even understand why they do that for lemons. It's not like Negi suddenly matures enough mentally to get it. It's still basically a lemon with a kid, just in an older body now. Anyway, my point is that I'm not aging the characters up, they stay 10. The age deceiving pills will still appear, but since they don't actually age the characters up, it's fine, plus its part of the plot in canon.
Also since I mentioned lemons, there will be 0 lemons. I don't write lemons. My belief is a harem fanfic doesn't need lemons to be good. I mean look at Negima, Rosario+Vampire, Sekirei, The World God Only Knows, DxD, Tenchi Muyo, Love Hina. All successful harem series and they all don't have lemons. Ecchi moments yes, but no lemons. For my Oppositeverse fanfic readers, this applies to my other fics as well, no lemons.
I drew a cover for the fic which shows what Nio looks like. I didn't have the right shade for his hair so I'm saying now, his hair is the same color as Arika's, Negi's mom. Also Negi doesn't have a harem per se (as a harem is classed as having at least 3 girls), but he is paired with two. I added Satsuki because I don't see her paired with Negi much and Asuna, I know she's related to him in someway, but I'll work around that somehow in this as I love the two paired together. They make a great pairing.
Last question, do you all want Konoka and Setsuna paired together? I like them together, but I also like them paired with others. If they aren't paired together then they will probably be in Nio's harem (and they won't be romantically involved with each other as well). So thoughts? Either Konoka/Setsuna, or both in Nio's harem.
