Chapter 1: Fate

Lelouch Vi Britannia could barely register that his dream was finally accomplished, a gentler world for his sister Nunally had been created, as well as given a future. It was hard to register because the person he did all of this for was crying, begging for his life to be spared. Lelouch dawned onto the realization that his sister had figured it out, he could only smile, she was still as smart. He should've never underestimated her. But he couldn't allow this to happen. He needed to be punished for all his sins, so Lelouch, whispered to the world, only for his sister as his audience.

"I…destroy…the world…and create it…anew…" with this, the demon emperor closed his eyes from the world he created. The final mask of Lelouch Vi Britannia would die with its actor, he didn't get to see his sister crying and screaming his name, he didn't get to see the world cheering on Zero, and he wouldn't get to see the world his death would create for his sister. Lelouch was happy. Now, he steeled himself for his punishment, for the karma of his almost endless list of sins. The enslavement of the world, the SAZ massacre and killing his sister Euphy, failing to protect Shirley and betraying everyone. Yes, whatever punishment he would receive would be fit for the demon emperor.

When Lelouch opened his eyes again, he did not expect the sight before him. He was floating, in what seemed like space. He could recognize the planets from his astronomy classes, not that he payed attention mind you. He was currently in between Earth and Mars, observing everything. He couldn't breath, but he didn't need to, his body seemed to not need oxygen. He wasn't freezing like normally you should in space, no, Lelouch Vi Britannia was like a ghost, floating in space, drifting off.

'Where am I? Is this what i have been sentenced to? Seems fitting, in the void, alone, yeah, loneliness is fitting. After all, i betrayed everyone, i don't deserve company.' He was thinking, he realized that he would probably be spending eternity in this place.

Lelouch was thinking, he was thinking about all possible outcomes of Zero requiem, how his sister would act, would Zero be accepted? Would the world truly be at peace? The dice was rolled anyways, he was already dead, he couldn't do anything to change it if he wanted it to. If god was cruel, then his plans would have been for nothing. He couldn't accept that, he refused that a superior entity had the right to choose the fate of the world. There was no point if life if everything was predetermined, so, Lelouch kept thinking, and ignored the outcome of some divine intervention destroying the world he built. God was supposed to be just, he couldn't ignore the sacrifice of millions and the pain of billions for his entertainment. No, there's no point in despair, it wouldn't change anything at this point.

Years had passed, well, what felt to Lelouch like years, he couldn't tell the passage of time in this place, so he was entertaining himself with memories of better days, what he could have done to avoid his greatest mistakes, how he could've fixed all of this. What would've happened if Marianne Lamperouge wasn't killed. He kept thinking, hoping that his life would be enough to keep him entertained.

More time had passed, and now Lelouch was at the 30th chess game against himself, imaginary chess game. He felt tired, but he couldn't sleep, he just couldn't. Now it seemed that his sanity, well, what would be left of it would be leaving him soon, maybe that was his punishment, madness, something his mind, logical as it was, was truly afraid of, so he tried to keep himself entertained, no matter how hard that would be.

Now, he felt it had been a century, he had played so many chess games against himself he had already done all possible combinations, and he was feeling his last drop of sanity slithering away.

No, he couldn't let that happen, he just couldn't, he couldn't resign himself to his fate, he was better than that, he was Zero, the man of miracles damn it!

That's when Lelouch with all his attempts finally felt the geass erupt in his eyes, he could only smirk darkly as reality collapsed around him. Yes, he couldn't resign himself to eternal loneliness, he would rather be erased like his parents, as reality collapsed, the domain of the sword of Akasha took place before him, except the mighty weapon was now empty. How pretentious of his father, naming a weapon. No matter how mighty, the weapon would only be known by a very select few, how self centered.

"So, has Lelouch Vi Britannia decided to reject the test i have cast upon him?" A loud collective of voices said, all speaking as one, surprising Lelouch.

"Show yourself!" Lelouch all but commanded, but the voices simply chuckled, as if he couldn't order them

"We do not have a physical form, but we guess we can introduce ourselves we aee the collective unconscious, god, as humans say, we must say, we thought you would've failed the test, seeing how resigned you were to your fate. But it seems you still aren't ready to head towards the future as granted." The voices chuckled again, this caused Lelouch to scowl. Test? God was testing him? For what purpose? For what goal? He had to find out.

"What was the purpose of your test?" Lelouch asked

"To see if you still had the will to live" god answered, this caused Lelouch's eyes to widen, he still had the will to live? He couldn't, he wanted to die, to not ruin his sister's life, to not bring death upon the world again. He could not accept it! He refused to condemn himself to that world of loneliness, he wanted to suffer, but in a moment where instinct took over logic, he broke the prison and escaped. Was that his will to live? Was it truly that immense?

"Why would the collective unconscious wish to know of such trivial information? Because if you wish to send me back down there or if i aquired code, i refuse" He may have the will to live, but the will to protect his sister was far greater than his life, it was his purpose, to protect Nunally's gentle smile.

"How noble from the demon emperor to protect the sister he chained to his throne as a trophy, truly, how noble" the voices all but mocked Lelouch, it made his blood boil, how dare they judge him from their high

throne, but, he couldn't lose his temper now, if he could wear a mask in front of Nunally, he could do so with everybody.

"If you are only here to mock me, then stop and continue my punishment, but i trust you had a better reason to do so."

"Hm hm, indeed, well then, let's get started" the sword of akasha's reality shattered, only to be replaced by damp streets and people walking through the city. It reminded Lelouch of Tokyo, in fact, he went to this particular place in Tokyo with Suzaku during one of their two trips to the capital. It looked the same but it felt different. As if some corruption had seeped itself to the very roots of the city.

"This is a timeline different to ours, but in the same cluster. This is the world we wish for you to be reborn into." The voices continued.

"I can feel corruption, but i see no point in starting again. I have lived my life, there is no need for me to ruin another world." Lelouch cut the voices off, he was dead, he wanted to stay dead, to avoid bringing misery to another world, no matter how short it was, it was buried deep in his heart. but that darkness was immense, it could take him over if he lost his reasoning. He had lost sanity, and staying in that solitary place for so long almost shredded the last parts of it. It had to be linked. There was another reason for that test…

"Well, would you rather return to your confinement?" Lelouch could swear the voice was smirking.

"I know you believe you are unworthy of redemption, or that you think you would ruin the world, but Lel- no, you are Zero, you cannot allow the suffering of another world can you?" He could feel the voices wanting him to accept, so why not interrogate him about it?

"And why would i want to do all of this, i still see no point to save this world, if its condemned to hell, then so be it, i have no emotional connection, im no hero so don't believe that, if you wanted someone like that, Suzaku would have been a better pick."

"Aren't you contradicting yourself Lelouch? You who commanded us for a chance at tomorrow, you would only fight for your sister Nunally, but you forget something, you wanted something else…" the voice was mocking him, he was boiling inside

"What could i want other than the gentler world for my sister?" Lelouch countered.

"When was and why was the Zero requiem made?" That question was enough to stop Lelouch from keeping to argue. The Zero requiem, his master plan was made when He thought that Nunally was dead. He wanted to give the world a future. That was the argument that god was trying to win against him. He was trying to convince him to give this world a brighter future, there was till the reason 'why'.

"Fine, i concede, but why do you wish to give me a future? To give me another chance?"

" because there are 2 reasons, Lelouch Vi Britannia, one, we owe our life to you, whiteout you, we would be dead, the collective unconsciousness of humanity would never exist, and a world of truth would takeover. Two, despite what you think, not all are seething in hatred towards you." The voices answered him as reality shattered apart, leaving Tokyo to a beautiful sunny day in the countryside. There was a grave under a tree, on it written: Lelouch Lamperouge, loving brother and friend, may he rest in peace. 1999 - 2018.

Next to the grave were his friends and family, dressed in black. There was Nunally in her wheelchair, with Sayoko behind it, Jeremiah crying, and a lot, holding Anya's hand, the girl's face was quite gloomy, she didn't even have that recording thing on her. On Nunally's side was Zero, he looked emotionless, but that was to be expected. Kaguya and Kallen where crying as well, they knew the young demon emperor well, and both learned of the requiem through their knowledge of both Suzaku and him. Lloyd Asplund himself and his assistant Cecile Croomy attended, with Cornelia and Gino at the back. Even Schneizel had a sad face instead of his smiling mask. Seemingly invisible to everyone else at the funeral was C.C. His witch was silently mourning in the background, behind a tree leading to the grave. Lelouch came to a final realization. Even though it was such a beautiful day outside, they were mourning his loss.

" are they all…" Lelouch started, but he already knew the answer, even with all his sins, they would want him to have a happy afterlife.

"Yes, they are mourning your loss, even your elder sister. They all wish you could live…but we know your wish would be to stay uninvolved in this world. And as such, we propose a contract" the voices all chorused at the world contract.

"A contract? Like Geass?" Lelouch inquired

"Yes, our deal is this, we propose to you the ability to keep Geass in the new timeline and enter C's world at specific times, in exchange, we want you to change the world's course. When our contract is finished and your death shall come, you shall rest in C's world with all other human souls for eternity. But if you die before completing this contract, then we shall simply condemn you to true hell."

Lelouch was thinking about this, the consequences of his potential actions, but he knew that a better afterlife for him would be Nunally's wish, and he proved it time and time again, that he would do anything for his little sister, so, to put his sister's soul at peace, he shall do exactly that. Yes, Zero was created for Nunally's gentler world and happiness, if he failed the latter the first time, then he shall do it again. Yes, that is it, to give his little sister peace in knowing he would have a peaceful afterlife was all she needed to loose most of the pain in her heart, so, for his little sister, and for the future of an entire world, he shall fight once again, for his sweet little angel.

"Yes, I Lelouch Vi Britannia" *he brought his right arm up to his left eye, and swiped it right "Accept the terms of your contract!"

Suddenly, Lelouch was being transported to a different world, the blue tunnel that he was floating through was bringing him to the new world he would live in.

"You shall be reborn as Lelouch Lamperouge, son of Charles and Marianne Lamperouge. You shall forget the memories of our timeline and your geass shall be sealed until the time is right. Lelouch Vi Britannia, the future holds great things for you! Now, let the demon emperor be reborn,

let the legend of the man of miracles be rewritten, let your new world know your name!" The voices all echoed in the tunnel.

Lelouch was starting to feel sleepy as he was reaching the end, as he held out his hand to grab the light, the feeling was too much for him and he fainted, awaiting his new life.

5th december 1994

Charles Lamperouge right now was not a happy man. The close to 2 meters tall giant in his forties with long blond hair and royal purple eyes was pacing in the hospital waiting room. he was afraid of his wife's current delivery. Doctors said the child was in frail health and the mother may die during delivery. But Marianne, as hot headed as ever, decided to take the chance anyways.

After a while of stomping around and scaring everyone in the waiting room, a doctor came in.

"Mr Lamperouge, the delivery was a success. Congratulations, you are a father! Your wife would like to see you now" the doctor said, smiling, earning a nod from the giant. Unknown to the good man, relief flashed inside of Charles.

"Lead the way" was all he replied. The doctor nodded and exited the room, Charles followed him out, they walked through a corridor filled with doctors and nurses walking around, out of privacy, he didn't look into the hospital rooms.

the doctor stopped at the door with the number: 512, knocked on it twice and opened the door. Charles followed in, entering a room filled with bright lights, it kinda did hurt his eyes. He looked around the room. There was a nurse stamping a health form or something and another writing noted on the delivery by the looks of it, of course, he was more attracted to the bed, which had a chair next to it, which his wife layed in.

Marianne Lamperouge, a quite tall woman with long black hair in a hospital blouse, she had distinct french features, but she looked tired, her purple eyed were half shut as she held a small baby in her arms. The baby itself had black hair, his purple eyes and was quite thin, probably due to his frail health.

Charles approached his wife until he was siting in a chair next to the bed.

"How did it go?" The husband inquired, earning a tired look from Marianne

"It was alright, for a moment i was scared he might die, but he pulled through fine…" she replied, she could really fall asleep anytime.

"He? So he's a boy huh?"

"Yep, and a lazy bunch, he fell asleep after 5 seconds of crying, reminds me of someone" Marianne said, staring suggestively at Charles, said man simply looked away and rolled his eyes. He only fell asleep once!

"Anyways," he started, trying to change the topic "have you thought of the name?" Marianne looked to be thinking for a second, before happily exclaiming "Lelouch!"

"Lelouch?" Charles asked ."Thats an unusual name, why Lelouch?"

"Well, i just liked it and….Lelouch Lamperouge sounds nice doesn't it?" Marianne stated with a happy smile on her face.

"Fine fine, you win, Lelouch Lamperouge it is" Charles raised his hands in surrender, he really couldn't win against his wife.

On this day, a demon regained their innocence. For now.

Author's notes: this will probably either be a 2 to monthly update schedule, depending on my schoolwork, motivation, and laziness (what are you talking about, you never do your schoolwork).

Anyways, hoped you enjoyed (if that's possible).and please review, it would be nice to have some opinion on my work, and please, as much as i understand, i would rather have constructive evil than simple pure evil.

Thank you for reading, and till the next update, discover better works than mine. (Honestly, its true, works such as Dauntless, Lelouch of Britannia, Tokyo Ghoul: a flower colored darker than black, The black tapes, Tokyo Ghoul: Bullet train and basically any work from either fandom. And if you haven't read those, then try them, they are very good works.)V
