Melissa POV

"Melissa, it's time for breakfast."

"Coming mum." I turned back to the mirror and tried to get the knots out of my hair one last time before I gave up. I ran downstairs and kissed my dad on the cheek. "Morning daddy."

"Morning Mel." He looked up from his newspaper. "How'd you sleep?"

"Pretty well. Oh, mum could you…" I pointed to my hair.

"Of course sweetie." She pulled out her wand and cast a spell to straighten my hair.

"Couldn't you just straighten her hair the normal way?" My dad says putting down his newspaper.

"Don't be such a spoil sport Richard." Mum says putting breakfast on the table.

Dad's a muggle and hates when mum uses magic for everything.

"Melissa, guess what came in the mail today?" Mum says holding up a letter.

"No way! It came." I got up and looked at the letter form Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. "Does this mean we get to go to Diagon Alley?"

"Yep right after breakfast, so hurry up." Mum answered.

Mum and I came out of Eeylops Owl Emporium with my new brown owl Wingz. Yeah I know I'm not very creative. We only have one stop left, Ollivanders wand Shop. As we were waiting in line I saw a girl with reddish-brown curls standing next to a woman I guess was her mom. She looked about my age, so I decided to say hi. You can never have to many friends my dad always said. "Hi."

"Oh hello."

"My name's Melissa."

"Nice to meet you Melissa, I'm Rose. Are you going to Hogwarts too?"

"Yep, it's my first year."

"Me too!"

The woman tapped Rose and pulled her away. "C'mon Rose, it's your turn."

"Okay mum. Bye Melissa, hope I see you at Hogwarts."

"Me too, bye Rose." School hasn't even started yet and I have a new friend. This year is going to rock.
