Luna was touring the lake district just over a year after the Battle of Hogwarts in the hunt for crumple horned snorkacks. It was sort of a competition hunt between Luna, Ginny and Hermione, the other two girls had come with her but were searching other hills while Luna worked her way up to Striding Edge to see if she could spot any of the creatures from there.

Moving to the edge Luna realised just how steep the incline at that part was. It was just about vertical and cliff like, with a lake right at the bottom, as close to the edge as it could be possible to get. Using the strange way of instant communication which Hermione had developed using the idea of mobile phones as her basis Luna called to the other girls. "Watch out for the near vertical inclines, crumple-horned snorkacks like living near the bottom of them."

"Yes, you suggested that this morning, but I'd be more worried if there's lose stones at the top of them." came Hermione's worrying voice, guessing Luna had found a cliff.

"Particularly since you managed to prove nargles exist, couldn't they cause trouble if they're around you and you're at the top of a cliff." Ginny was less worried, and still coming to terms with the nargle's she'd seen the week before.

Luna shook her head at the voices, quietly confident that nargle's don't live at the top of hills or even visit them. Anyway, she'd already looked over multiple cliffs that day, just none quite as high as the one she was on now.

Just to be cautious Luna lay down to get a better look down the slope, instead of leaning out over the edge.

"I think I can see one girls, come over to striding edge quickly." She gasped, spotting a curious creature with curved horns and dark brown fur, about the size of an average goat, but with the face of a Labrador and the tail of a lion.

There were cracks behind Luna as Ginny and Hermione apparated nearby, neither moving closer unless Luna singled for them to, but Luna had jumped slightly. The loose stones beneath Luna started rolling forwards, taking the poor girl with them, over the edge of the cliff.

Ginny and Hermione both fired spells to try and save Luna but they missed the girl, only dislodging more stones in the process and increasing the speed which Luna fell towards the lake.

Not knowing what to do and completely terrified of what could be her encroaching death Luna threw her arm with her wand in her hand out in front of her, shouting the first transfiguration spell which she thought might make her chances of surviving greater.

Hermione and Ginny could only watch as they saw Luna start falling through the air, somehow managing to turn the entire lake below her into rum as she fell straight into it. Looking at each other for a second they both apparated to the edge of the lake, ready to help Luna out, or get a drink, they weren't certain which, but were very glad there was for once no muggles around the hills to see the massive amount of magic which had been used.

Luna was giggling and tipsy by the time she swam to the edge of the lake, after accidentally drinking some of the rum while swimming and going into shock. "It was a goat. I thought a goat was a crumple-horned snorkack."

Hermione and Ginny were laughing as well, "You just managed the spell Seamus spent ages trying to manage. Why did you turn water into rum Luna?" Hermione asked, pulling her friend out of the lake.

Luna laughed again, "It was the first thing to jump into my mind that I thought might help me float, no idea why."
