"Yoh."
The sharp kick to the ribs woke the boy from his tormented sleep. A moan.
"Yoh Askura get you ass up now before you run a hundred more kilometers than you are about to do."
Groaning and half asleep, the shaman stumbled from his bed to his fiancee's wishes, fumbling to dress and gather the proper weights then start his training as he did every morning at sunrise. The abuse was a contiunuous circle. He no longer had the respect of his future wife, his former friends. He was alone once again.
The sharp morning wind cut across a fresh cut on his cheek giving a small jolt of pain. Yoh could only continue. Past early morning strollers, elders, young couples. Down at the beach.
The man standing in the waves stopped Yoh dead in his tracks. It was the same man from the previous days that he encountered during his run. He now stood almost hip deep in the rolling swirling water with his pants soaked, shirt held in one hand the bronze skin and muscle gleaming in the morning sun. He looked over his shoulder directly at the shaman with crystal cobalt eyes saddened. Silky curled strands of lilac hair twisted and danced around his child like face, a swirling mass of waves across his back dipping into the water.
Another runner hit Yoh hard, sending him to the sand. No apology. Groaning at his already abused body he climbed to his feet.
"Are you alright?"
The voice was his, silky deep but caring. How did he get to him so fast? Yoh could barely find the courage to look at the beautiful cobalt eyes that reminded him so much of his guardian ghost that was no longer his friend. He downcasted his eyes to the sand, gripping handfuls of it at his side.
'Hai..'
Hesitation. Was it love? Yoh couldn't understand why he was burning inside, his heart pounding against his ribcage.
"You're bleeding.."
Yoh blinked. He spoke with an accent, his Japanese needed touch ups but everything else seemed to tip the scales. The stranger's hand touched his cheek, smearing the blood from the cut. A wound from Anna. Yoh downcasted his eyes more and shivered.
'I'm fine..'
Before Yoh knew it, he was on his knees, sobbing. All the pain from the past came in swirling emotion.
"You're not fine your heart cries out.."
It seemed like a mircale for Yoh to be held at that moment by a man he didn't know, a handsome stranger who's heart went out to him. His arms were strong, his body warm and welcome to his pained heart and broken soul. The world around him melted away and he only cried. The stranger was murmuring words in a lanuage Yoh couldn't understand. The lack of sleep finally pursuaded him, allowing him to slip peacefully in the other's arms and for the first time in many weeks, he smiled.
