WHAT IF?

Do you sometimes reflect on your past, the choices you've made?

Are there some things you would have done differently had you known the consequences to come?

Ronald Weasley asked himself this very question every single day.

If he had known all the consequences would he have befriended Harry Potter?

He wanna say 'yes of course, no matter what, Harry and I were meant to be friends. He's my best mate, I'd never wish a life without him.' But honestly, if hadn't welcomed Harry into his family, would Fred still be here?

Would he be smiling, laughing, would he be cracking jokes or planning pranks?

Would he still be his annoying big brother and not just the sad memory of his dead brother.

It wasn't fair, Ron knew it. It wasn't Harry's fault, he was not responsible for all those deaths. But it was so much easier to blame his friend instead of himself.

If only he had been faster. If only he had cared about his more more than his friends. If only he had done something.

He had spent the whole year away from his family. Was the Fred who died the same as the one Ron knew? Did the war change him? No... Fred died the way he lived, laughing.

The only time Ron had seen his big brother afraid was when George lost his ear... All the same, the only time his had seen George afraid was when he finally realized Fred wasn't coming home. Never.

So, as he played with his girlfriend's necklace, Ron wondered... had he known back then, all the pain and the losses to come, would he have chosen that compartment?... Probably, because an eleven year old Ronald was reckless and stubborn. But what would a seventeen year old Ron do, if he were given a chance to change his family's fate?

He tried to keep these thoughts away as his fist closed around the golden necklace, like a lifeline. A second chance, a maybe... a what if?...
