Prologue
It was a cold winters night on Duel academy island. All through out the island, you can see the students sleep. Tomorrow was the weekend meaning they had the time off from work and the stresses of school life.
However, one obelisk blue student could not get to sleep. His name was Zane Truesdale, and he was considered to be the number one duelist In the school. Not even Jaden could best him in a duel. A man who 'has it all' , with no arrogance, who is quite serious. Zane held a framed photo in his hands and heaved a saddened sigh. He said to himself, "Has it Really been three years already"?
In the photo he held, there were Five teenagers in it. Almost all of them Wore Obelisk blue Blazers, except for one blue haired kid wearing a Ra yellow jacket. They were side by side making faces and weird hand gestures. Zane's Eyes turned to one of the tens in the lower left corner. He had spiky black hair with red streaks in it, exceptionally pale skin, Red eyes with black eye make up, and he wore a black shirt with a pentagram underneath his opened blazer. Zane sighed and said, " You were always The rebel Hikaru Yamato…".
Zane's eyes drifted to a teen In the middle with thick blue hair that stuck out in many directions. This teen was sticking out his tongue trying to make a funny face, He wore glasses and looked quite similar to Zane's brother Syrus, he also wore purple pants and had his uniform buttoned up. Zane said to himself quietly, "…and you Sage Swartzwood, were the smartest, yet most timid of all of us."
Zane then looked at a kid wearing a Ra yellow jacket. The kid had short dark blue hair, he wore black pants and kept his blazer buttoned up. The kid was smiling and had his arm extended in a peace sign. Zane rolled his eyes and said, "Wow, I was such a geek freshman year at Duel academy…".
Finally his eyes drifted to a teen In the middle. The teen had his eyes closed smiling widely like Jaden often does. He had both his arms around Hikaru and Sage's necks almost as if he were to pull them both into the photo. He had long shoulder length hair much like Zane's, only it was light brown and parted on the right. His Blue blazer was more of a jacket style then a normal Obelisk uniform which mimics a trench coat. He wore it open revealing a plain black shirt, and wore black pants. Zane sighed and said to himself as quietly, if not more to this one particular Teen, " Rainer Mouri… You were my idol…My hero…The greatest there ever was."
Zane stretched out across his bed and said, "if only they could all see me now… They'd be so proud. We were such close friends, What ever happened to the good old days?" Zane remained in deep thought, he stayed like this until he realized there was knocking at the door. Zane shouted, "Come in Atticus." The Door opened revealing the long haired obelisk blue student, he greeted Zane with his typical wave whilst saying, "What's up bro?". Zane sighed and said in his ever serious tone, "Oh nothing, I was just looking at old photo's from our freshman year at Duel academy. It's been quite a while since then hasn't it?"
