The scent of cherry blossoms wafted in through her open bedroom window. The sky was blue. She smiled dully at the beauty of spring.
A knock on her bedroom door alerted her.
Sakura Haruno stared absently when her crying mother laid a letter on top of her printed pink blanket. Her green eyes were dull and tired; her hair was matted in some places. She was not beautiful in her depressed state.
Her mother left the room.
She reached forward to take the letter that was embossed with the Hokage's seal. Her hands were shaking as she tore it open. Breaths became shallow. Shudders overcame her.
Tears flowed down her eyes as she slowly read its contents. Her chest was hurting her just like her eyes. She could not believe that he really sent it.
Sakura crumbled the piece of paper, crying hard. She did not want this. She could not bear this. It was not what she deserved.
She threw it to the wall with all of her might.
Sobbing, Sakura pulled the blanket over her head.
The letter containing the news of her boyfriend's death- oh her Uchiha Sasuke, oh her love- lay on the floor like a wilted petal.
