She had always been fond of the color green. She was fascinated by its ability to give off different feelings in each shade. It was vibrant and clean in the grassy fields. The emerald hues in the forest were deep and mysterious. She envied the pure, fresh greens in the flowers in the garden that were about to bloom. She had always prefered green apples to red ones- they were tangy but they had a sweetness to them that she couldn't resist. The Kokiri children traditionally wore green, an earthy hue. To her it meant Spring, it meant balance and harmony, it meant clarity. The colors, though, that presented themselves on the way to Ordon village were her favorite. The pathways and forest trails that she rode along always had warm, loving, relaxing shades that she flourished in. Maybe because she saw a bit of each trait in each shade as she walked. Maybe they were the most peaceful, beautiful colors she had ever seen. But maybe there was another reason.
There was a certain boy in Ordon Village. His eyes were pale, bright blue. Almost as pure as Lake Hylia, she had thought, but not quite. His hair was a messy, dark blond that always seemed to be somewhat messy and disheveled. His skin was fair, though he often had a slight tan from working in the village. But the really memorable thing about him was his green garb. He always wore green; just like the Hero of Legend, just like the prophecies and legends she, as the princess, had been well-versed in. She had always been fond of the color green, but his green was different. It was earthy, vibrant, and mysterious, but fresh and clean at the same time. It was playful and bright, brave and deep, just as he was.
Maybe, she had mused, that's why she loved this warm, lovely color. Maybe. Maybe this warm, lovely, pure, bright color was why she loved him. But she doubted this. He was kind, childish, and bright, but brave, deep and something of a mystery. He was, in essence, the embodiment of that color she loved so much. But again, that wasn't why she had come to fall for him. It was apparent that he smiled, or laughed, or looked at her, or did anything, she felt a warm glow that filled from the pit of her stomach all the way to her cheeks, which would grow as red as roses at those moments.
Maybe, she often wondered, he was as taken with her pale blond hair and deep, azure eyes as she was with his. Maybe there were colorful traits about the princess that she herself never noticed, but consumed his thoughts. She'd never know, she supposed, but she earnestly and desperately hoped.
Yes, she had always been fond of the color green, but it was hisgreen that she had loved.
Soon, she had thought, he'll know my favorite color.
