Author's Notes: Just something that popped into mind. Was anyone fortunate enough to see Maki Murakami's panel at Otakon? I for one regretfully missed it.
Summary: Because Dee keeps him up at night in more ways than one.
The first time Ryo woke up was at 12:45am.
The unfamiliar weight on his side made him shift uneasily in his half-conscious state until he realized the tingling sensation was alerting him to the lack of blood flowing into his right arm. Sighing, he carefully extricated his arm from underneath Dee's sleeping form and winced as he flexed his hand tentatively. Yawning, he turned on his side and went back to sleep.
At 1:36am, Ryo found himself shivering. Groping for the blanket, he frowned when he saw that they were all taken up by Dee, who was sleeping snug as a bug in a rug, in his makeshift cocoon.
Grumbling, the fair headed man got up and fetched the spare blanket from the closet. His head had barely touched the pillow before he knew no more.
The third time Ryo woke up was when he became aware of a sharp elbow jabbing painfully into his side.
Repeatedly.
Groaning, he impatiently shoved Dee back onto his side of the bed before settling back to sleep. The clock on the nightstand read 2:24am.
At 4:15, he heard the snores before he actually opened his eyes.
They were punctuated with a sharp whistle as his partner happily slept with his dark head resting on Ryo's shoulder.
Muttering darkly about smothering his partner in his sleep, Ryo grabbed his pillow and brought it savagely down on Dee's sleeping face. Snoring successfully muffled, he curled back onto his side and proceeded to sleep without any further interruption.
That morning, Dee came into work sporting a black eye, while Ryo trailed behind him with a tired, but self-satisfied expression on his face. Knowing looks and good natured ribbing were exchanged between the officers at the precinct as they feigned concern over Dee and his "rough night".
The Chief only rolled his eyes exasperatedly as he poured himself another cup of coffee. Because really, the personal lives of his subordinates wasn't any of his business.
Although, he had to admit that he was mildly surprised that Latyner turned out to be the woman of the relationship.
Guess you can't judge a book by it's cover.
