Grey's Anatomy

The Balcony Scene

Pairing: Addison Montgomery-Shepherd/Derek Shepherd

Summary: He's reminded, in that instant their eyes meet, of the balcony scene in Romeo & Juliet.

Author's Note: This idea came to me last night when I was up late watching old Addek scenes. They were simply the best couple Grey's Anatomy ever produced and I still can't get enough of them. I may write another little drabble piece set in season two. Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoyed it.

Disclaimer: I do not own anything in this story.

It's the same old story as it always is. Derek's in the middle of surgery. It doesn't matter if it's going wrong or if it's going right because it's his habit to look up into the balcony. And she's staring down at him with her piercing gaze and her flaming red hair forming a devilish looking halo about her face.

He's reminded, in that instant their eyes meet, of the balcony scene in Romeo & Juliet. He always feels they're star crossed in those few precious seconds. And they're speaking in a language few would understand just like the star-crossed lovers the world knows so well.

And then in a flash, she's gone. His mind had conjured up the images he always wants, and for some odd reason still expects to see when he looks up toward the balcony. It's never empty but it doesn't matter because she's not there.

He's reminded, in that instant he remembers she's never going to be in that balcony again, that Derek and Addison have something else in common with Romeo & Juliet.

Their story ended in tragedy too.

End.
