Their wedding night they stayed at a hotel, it wasn't very fancy or extravagant. Newt had part of the new year of their marriage already planned out.
"In the spring we can set out for Argentina, Brazil, India." He looked at her, her brown eyes filled with concern. "You don't like the plan?"
"It sounds like a fine plan." She saw magical creatures through different eyes, thanks to Newt. "I wish we could stay here, at least till we get our feet planted firmly on the ground first."
"That is why I decided on the spring."
"It's getting late." She didn't want to discuss it at the moment. "We should probably get some sleep."
He seemed a little hesitant to get into the bed.
"We don't have to do anything." She said. "Just come and lay next to me." As he climbed in he avoided her gaze, afraid she'd see right through him.
She caught the look on his face and mistook it for being nervous. He was staring straight up at the ceiling. She placed her arm across him. Where it belonged. He seemed a little taken aback at the action. Like he wasn't familiar with it. Of course, then again he was more used to being around his beasts than humans. Or was he just nervous, a magizoologist who was familiar with all the mating calls and mating dances was nervous of the human equivalent.
"Newt?"
"Hmm?"
"Are you a virgin?" At her question he blanched. She didn't think it was possible for someone to turn three different shades of red. Leave it to Newt Scamander.
"uh...umm." He flustered with his words, unsure how to answer.
Then as if reading his mind, "You don't have to answer that. I'm not asking anything. I was just curious."
"Would it...would it hurt you if I said no?" His soft green eyes were filled with regret.
"No." But in truth it did a little.
"I was sixteen. In the room of requirement. It's a room at Hogwarts that appears if you need somewhere to go or a quiet place..."
"I don't need all the details and I don't want to know who it was." Though she had an idea of who it was. Leta Lestrange was a taker.
"I'd understand if you don't want me. If you want to leave. I am damaged."
"No. You're anything but that. I love you, Newt. Always."
