Azura POV
I was going to be late to school; again. Like always, I had gotten up late, and had gotten caught in the typical rush of morning traffic. I cursed under my breath and sprinted into the station. 'Yes! I'm going to make it!' I thought…. right before I slammed into someone. I fell backwards, all the stuff in my bookbag scattering across the floor.
"Gomen nasai," said a girl about my age. She was beautiful. She had river blue eyes and raven black hair. She offered me her hand, and helped me up. She gathered my scattered items, and gave them to me.
"Thanks," I said. She nodded quickly, and ran off in the opposite direction. As she did so, she dropped something. I picked it up. It was her wallet. I called after her, but she was gone before I could finish my sentence. 'She must not have noticed she dropped it,' I thought. I opened it and searched for some sort of number or address, but I couldn't find it. Thats when I saw something strange.
Hidden behind a couple of dollars was a picture, but not just any picture. Upon closer inspection, I saw that the picture was a selfie of me and the strange girl laying in the grass together, laughing, but I was turned away from the camera. The date on the photo? August 17, 2022. Four years From now.
My heart dropped into my stomach. What was this? I didn't know her, so how did she get it? Was this a prank?
I put the picture back, stashed the wallet, and ran to the one place I knew I could be alone- the roof of the abandon steel factory.
…
I reached the factory, breathless, went straight to the roof, and collapsed. I forced my breathing into check, along with my thoughts. There has to be an explanation for this, I thought, looking at the picture once more. I needed information, but just asking her was out of the question. She wouldn't answer me unless she saw no other option, most likely, so I decided to devise a plan. She must know me well, based on the picture, so she must know where I hang out right? And since she would need her wallet back, she would have to come look for me to get it. That made the solution simple. I just had to let her come to me.
? POV
I immediately stopped running, and felt my pockets for my wallet, but it was gone. 'No,' I thought,' This isnt supposed to happen! what should I do?' I was going to go back to the station, but I stopped, knowing if anything, she wouldn't be there, especially if she found the picture. With a sigh, I turned and started towards the one place I knew she would be. the one place she always went when she needed to think; the roof of the abandoned steel factory.
…
It didn't take me long to get there. I crept up the stairs, to the roof, and to my joy, I found her sleeping. I smiled. It was so like her. She was always sleeping anywhere and everywhere when she had the chance. I brushed her snow white hair from her face, and suddenly, her hand shot up and grabbed ahold of my wrist.
I gasped, and tried to pull away, but her grip was strong. Her bright red eyes fluttered open and stared into mine; emotionless. She pulled out my wallet and took out the picture, never once breaking eye contact.
"Now," she said,"Mind explaining this?"
