I've asked to own Harry Potter for Christmas, but as that day isn't here yet, I don't quite own it. But just wait. Santa won't fail me this year.
For now, here's just a little Remus/Tonks fluff. Reviews make nice Christmas presents. :)
Merry early Christmas!
Remus watched as Sirius led a personal crusade to catch every member of the Order of the Phoenix under the mistletoe that night. He had caught Remus once (with plenty of resistance, mind you, but a drunken Sirius was a determined Sirius). And when Sirius had persuaded a slightly intoxicated Tonks to join in his activities halfway through the party, Remus told himself that he wasn't avoiding her, but that being caught once had been more than enough of an experience for him.
The number of strategically placed sprigs seemed to magically increase as the night wore on (Remus suspected that that really was the case, and that Dumbledore had something to do with it). He was just content to sit back and watch the people around him forget their troubles, only slightly worried as Molly became flushed and started to pet the Christmas tree.
The children had all gone up to bed and many of the Order members had gone home when Tonks leaned in close from behind his chair and tilted his chin towards her. Her lips moved over his slowly, teasing him into opening his mouth slightly. She tasted like wine and dark chocolate and something completely all her own. She was flushed as she pulled away (whether from alcohol or embarrassment, he doesn't know), but he was sure his face mirrored hers.
'Happy Christmas, Remus,' she said softly, her voice shaking slightly. She walked away, only stumbling a bit on the carpet.
Remus sat there, gazing blankly after her retreating form. When she was gone, he looked up.
There was no mistletoe in sight.
