Peach let out a sigh of disappointment. Mario had once again saved her from the clutches of the evil Bowser and she was now home safe…for how long though? Bowser would surely try and kidnap her again and quite frankly she was tired of it. She couldn't blame Mario; he was just one man. No, if anyone was to be blamed it was her Toad Guard.
The pink-clad princess frowned at the thought of her Toad Guard. They were quite possibly the worst guards in the history of anything. Whenever Bowser came to cause trouble, instead of actually trying to fend him off they would run around in fear. Some guards they were.
Then Peach thought about Mario. If the Toad Guard would actually do their job, then Mario wouldn't have to as hard as he does! Maybe she should rethink on who should be guarding the castle. As she thought about it, an idea came to mind and a grin came to her face. She knew exactly what to do.

"I say, Your Highness, have you really thought this out?" questioned Toadsworth as the old Toad followed the princess.
"Of course I have, Toadsworth. I feel that the Toad Guard have not done their job properly and I'm going to replace them with a loyal guard dog!" explained Peach as she looked at her retainer with a pout.
"I understand that, Your Highness, but what does that have to with us traveling all the way to this island and walking through this jungle?"
"This is Yoshi's Island, Toadsworth. Mario found Yoshi here, so maybe I can find something that would make an excellent guard dog!"
Toadsworth quietly wondered what goes on in Peach's head at times. "And what if we run into something dangerous? You for whatever reason thought it would be a good idea not to bring anyone else with us."
"I'm sure one of the local Yoshis will help us."
The old Toad wanted to bang his head against a tree at that moment. Before he could say anything to Peach about how they should just leave…
"Arf!"
The two jumped at the sound and turned to the source, which seemed to be a large, yet strange looking dog. It was white and brown in color, had large duck lips, a long red tongue, and its tail ended with a red ball. It also had a studded collar around its neck.
"Aw, it's so cute!" exclaimed Peach as she ran up to the canine.
'If that thing is cute, then I am young,' thought Toadsworth with a frown. He then followed after the Princess. "Your Highness! You don't even know where that thing been!"
"Don't be silly, Toadsworth! I'm sure he's clean. Aren't you, cutie!" exclaimed Peach as she nuzzled into the dog.
"Arf!"
The blonde let out some giggles. "So cute!"
"Your Highness, we should really be leaving," said Toadsworth, but was ultimately ignored.
"I wonder if you have a name," said Peach. She reached for the dog's collar and found a tag. "Poochy? Even your name is cute!"
"Your Highness…"
"I think he's perfect! Come on, Poochy! You're coming home with me!"
Toadsworth went stiff as a board from hearing this. "Wait, what? Your Highness, reconsider this!
"Don't be such a stick in the mud, Toadsworth. Poochy will make for an excellent guard dog," replied Peach as she petted the beast.
Toadsworth could only let out a groan. He knew that there was no reasoning at this point. "Fine! But he is your responsibility, Your Highness."
"Right! Let's go, Poochy!"
"Arf!"
Princess and pooch then head off back towards the ship Peach used to get to the island. Toadsworth once again followed close behind, muttering to himself about he was too old for this.
