Title: Eternity
Author: Wolf Star
Fandom: Stargate: SG1
Rating: PG (I think)
Disclaimer: despite how much I love him, Fifth (and all the SG1 characters) is not mine
Spoilers: I'm actually not so sure there. None really.
Note: Totally unbetaed. This goes under the category of 'must write Fifth fic, because omg he is so cool!' It is short (just a little over 200 words) and written fairly quickly. So, um, sorry if there are any glaring errors that I have missed.

Eternity

In the seconds of eternity it happened. The boy realized what it was to be a man. His flaw showed itself to him, consumed him, and for the first time he saw it for the weakness it truly was. Yet, with that knowledge, he saw how trust could also be his greatest strength.

What was she doing this instant? How many lifetimes could she have lived? he could not help himself from dreaming.

He had given her everything, trusted her with everything, and she had left him only with eternity and nothing.

How, after knowing everything about her did he miss the betrayal in her heart? It cut deeper into him when he saw the knowledgeable look in his mentor's –should he instead be called his father and his creator? – eyes. They all knew what he had been unable to believe.

In that unending moment before his hand reached the device a new version of Fifth was born. One day he would teach her the price of betrayal. She would live a lifetime during an endless second. And she would finally understand and love him for what he gave up for her. Then, he would leave her as she left him, and she would know his pain.
