Faith stared at the grave. It was hard to think about the fact that Cordelia, no matter how much they hated each other in the past, was gone. Unlike Faith, she never woke up. Faith had been waiting for her to, so she could tease her about the comments she made about Faith's own, but Cordy hadn't made it like she had.
A tear sliped from her eye and rolled down her cheek. Cordelia wasn't suppoed to die. She was Angel's light after Buffy. She was suppoed to help him find his way. She was too young to die. She wasn't a slayer. She was suppoed to live to 120 and die happy in her sleep in the arms of the man she loved, her children, grandchildren and Great grandchildren would be sleeping in the rooms of her sunny home. But instead she had died because of a over-zealous power.
"When was the funeral?" She turned to face the Three who had led her to Cordy's grave site. Spike stood behind Fred, his hand on her shoulder. Wesley stood closer to her, knowing her better then the other two.
"Two weeks ago yesterday." He said. "Three days after she died."
"How is Angel taking it." Wesley shruged.
"As good as he can. He was in love with her. It was like loosing his ancher I suppose." More tears fell. It must be killing angel, she thought. Considering she was never a bing Cordy-fan and she was pratically breaking apart should say something. And Angel was twice as close as anyone else to her. She walked over to Wesley and he wrapped his arms around her as she cried. She knew he was too.
Watching them, Fred felt as something was being put back together even as another part was being torn out. Looking down at the grave stone she sighed and moved closer to spike who wraped his arms around her. He hadn't known Cordelia real well but over the day she had been there (or had been a figment of his imagination, he wasn't sure) He understood them a bit more. He kissed the top of Fred's head and started to lead her out of the cementary towards the car Angel had lent him. Wes would bring Faith back in his own car since Faith was staying with him while she was in LA.
He wondered why Buffy didn't come. She was after all a friend of Cordelia's. Xander had arrived for teh Funneral, having been living in New York with Willow for the weeks preceding Cordelia's death. They had been sitting up a slayer school for Buffy for American Slayers when she was done with Europe.
Faith had only heard about the death a few days before but had managed to come to see the grave. Buffy seemed to be ignoring the whole LA Gang.
Angel sat in his office silently. In the couch in front of the desk sat Faith, Fred and Spike while Wes stood near the door. Gunn and Lorne sat in the two chairs. He looked at them all and saw the same emotion in thier faces as was in his own.
Faith had just decided to stay in LA for an extended time, since she didn't feel useful with Buffy in Rome.
This was his family, it he really thought about it. Wesley and Gunn were like brothers to him, Fred and Faith were like his sisters. Cordelia and Buffy had been his loves. Lorne was one of his best friends and Spike, well Spike was like the annoying cousin that your parent's always invited over. But despite teh animostity between them, he did love Spike. Granted he would never say that outloud or really dwell on it, but they had been though alot together. He was really the last of his first family.
If only it hadn't taken Cordy's death to show him how much the five people who were in the room with him meant to him.
They were all he had left.
