"Hey Sam," called Pete, raising his voice to be heard over the elephant eating noisily nearby.

The dark skinned woman stepped into the caravan doorway to find her man standing waving a letter, his tools abandoned nearby. "What?" she asked, wiping her hands on the tea towel.

"Guess what I've got here?" He didn't wait for her answer. "It's a letter from Patrick."

Sam came down the steps then, worry creasing her brow. "Is he okay?"

"More than okay," laughed Pete, his belly rolling as he pointed his finger and tapped the paper. "The guy's up and gotten married again."

"Good," said Sam in a final tone. "He needs the love of a good woman to keep him okay."

"Ah Sam," added Pete slowly. "He married Pepper."

Her facade changed instantly. "It's bad enough that he's working for the cops, he's now married one?" she railed.

The circus man tried to reason on Teresa's behalf, but Sam wouldn't stand for it.

"Mark my words Pete," the woman warned with a raised finger, cutting her partner off as she moved back toward the steps once again. "Nothing good will come from this."

Meanwhile, several hundred miles away in a honeymoon suite, Teresa Lisbon said the exact same thing to her new husband.

Patrick Jane just grinned and moved to shut her up.

A piece of fluff.
