Hey everyone. This story was brought to you by Hogwarts Fan Club, Photography: Poses For Models assignment, and Herbology Hangout on Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. For Hogwarts Fan Club wrote about Newt Scamander signing a photograph. For Photography: Poses For Models I wrote for task #5 which was write about two people getting closer in a situation. For Herbology Hangout I wrote for the character prompt of Tina Goldstein. I hope you all enjoy Thoughts of Newt.
Tina can't help but take a look at the picture Queenie had been looking at earlier after she and her sister finished singing Ilvermorny's school song. The picture was a young woman in what looked like her teens. This must have been taken while Newt was at school.
"I'm sorry Queenie brought her up," Tina said approaching Newt.
Newt Scamander looks a little startled that focus has once again been put back onto the photo of Leta Lestrange. He just wanted to gather up his remaining creatures and finish what he'd started out do.
"It's okay," Newt told her. "I understand she can't really help but read my mind about the subject." He continued to poke around in one of the many crates of magical creature food.
"Can I help you feed your creatures while we talk?" Tina asked watching Newt's hands as he worked on fixing the food for looked like the Bowtruckles. "We don't have to talk about Leta if you don't want."
A look of relief crossed Newts features as he nodded. "Sure," he told Tina then motioned her follow him over to the tree where his bowtruckles were climbing around. "Hold out your hand," he told her placing his palm upwards.
Tina nervously put her hand palm upwards on top of Newt's. "Then what?" she asked.
"I'm going to put some bowtruckle food into it," he told her. "All you have to do is hold the food out to them and they'll come to you." He poured some of the bowtruckle food into Tina's hand. "So how did you like Ilvermorny?" he asked her. "I never been to any other wizarding school outside of Hogwarts. I was just wondering..."
"Ilvermorny was a wonderful time for me," Tina told him. "I made a ton of friends there." She smiled over at Newt as she watched him hold out his hand to the bowtruckles. Something about this sweet, caring, funny man made Tina want to get to know him more. Just thinking this made her blush a pretty pink. Newt turned towards her and she quickly covered her blush by pretending to feed a couple of bowtruckles that had been in the opposite tree.
"It doesn't sound that different from Hogwarts," Newt told her. "Tell me about the classes. Were the same as at Hogwarts?" Then remembering she didn't go to Hogwarts he filled in the classes that Hogwarts had. "Defense Against the Dark Arts, Potions, History of Magic, and the like."
"Oh yes," she told him excitedly. "My favorite class had to be Defense Against the Dark Arts. I always knew I wanted to be involved in the Auror department." At this she fell silent remembering that she'd lost the privilege of doing what she truly wanted to do.
"I didn't mean to bring up something that is painful to you," Newt said sounding sorry. A smile formed on his face. "As you can tell my favorite class was Care of Magical Creatures." He smiled around at the all of his creatures. "I've always known that I'd have a job dealing with creatures. Even back in Hogwarts."
"That's something both seem to have in common," Tina whispered to herself a happy smile crossing her face.
"What was that?"
"Nothing, Mr. Scamander."
Once they were finished feeding the bowtruckles Newt went off in search of the Niffler. Tina watched him from her position near the bowtruckle area. She couldn't help but think that maybe she could end up marrying a guy like Newt Scamander.
"I couldn't agree more," Queenie spoke up with a chuckle. "I couldn't agree more."
I hope you all enjoyed Thoughts of Newt.
