Another request from tate310, this time it's "Sleeping Beauty" from Season 4. Enjoy and comment.
It was a beautiful night on the Island of Sodor. James had arrived from delivering coal to all the stations.
"Thomas." whispered Percy, "can you finish the story you told us last night?"
"You mean the one about Duke, the lost engine?"
"Exactly!" said Henry.
"But since James wasn't here for the first part." added Percy, can you remind him what happened so far?"
"Sure!" said Thomas. Then, he began the story.
Duke was old, and lived with two young engines called Stewart and Falcon. They teased Duke, always calling him "Granpuff" but they were happy together.
Then their line was closed down. Falcon and Duke were sold, and Duke was left alone in the shed.
But just recently, Sir Topham Hatt was payed a visit by some visitors.
"We want to find Duke." they said, "and make him happy again."
Maps were everywhere. They looked for possible clues to where Duke was.
"If we follow the map, we'll travel north of the village, then into the mountains. That's where Duke must be.
"If he's in the mountains, it must be true!"
Everyone set off to the mountains far away, in search of Duke
Days went by, and the search became harder. But the rescuers wouldn't give up! They kept looking for Duke. They looked everywhere, but there were still no sign of Duke.
"He has to be here somewhere!" they said.
They scrambled over hills and struggled over ditches.
At last their search ended, but quite by accident, when one of the rescuers fell through a roof! Thankfully, he wasn't hurt, but they ended up finding Duke!
"We've found him! We've found our sleeping beauty!" he cried.
"Excuse me!" inquired Duke. "Are you a vandal? Driver says vandals break and smash things, and I don't want to be broken and smashed!"
"No!" laughed the rescuers."We've dropped in because we want to take you back. Stewart and Falcon will be very pleased to see you!"
"So they did remember me after all!" said Duke happily.
When Duke was finally cleaned off, they set away to Duke's new home. It was a long journey, but when they arrived, Stewart and Falcon were there to give him a big welcome.
"He's here!" they cheered.
"You woke me up!" grumbled Duke. "In my old days, engines were..."
"...Seen and not heard Granpuff! We start work together tomorrow. We're glad you're back. We can keep you in order now!"
"Get back to work!" yelled Duke. He was cross, but inside, he felt happier than ever before.
The other engines loved the story, especially the happy ending.
"We loved it!" agreed the other engines.
"Especially the happy ending!" said Percy.
Soon, all the engines were sound asleep.
