Cool Air 2: Before
"Hold still," Ando sighed, tightening his grip on the wheel. The Nissan skid across a patch of ice and Hiro winced.
"But... I'm concerned..."
"We're fine," the older Japanese man's teeth clenched. Since the snow had begun to fall, Hiro had been nattering about his driving. Natter, natter, nattering. Worse than Star Trek, worse than the latest manga craze, worse than Look, now, Ando- I'm going to be a hero!
And now, the younger was fidgeting hopelessly, distracting him.
Hiro was in fact the only human being Ando had ever met that got under his skin in such a manner- no matter what he did, Ando's attention rarely left the little geek.
Slowly, Hiro wriggled until one of his legs was pulled up under him. Ando glanced over, "Stop fidgeting!"
"Watch the road!" Hiro cried out, pointing, as a deer leapt across the desolate highway cutting around the mountain.
"Dammit, Hiro!"
But this had been enough of a scare to slow him down, winding down the slippery road. It seems like an eternity later, with Hiro twisting his hands in worry, and occasionally squeaking with fear as they pass over a bit of ice. "Mou, Ando-kun, please slow down..."
The rainy snow was coming down heavily, blurring the window despite Ando's pushing the windshield wipers to their limit. Defeated, he turned to the side of the road, and let the engine idle for several moments before shutting it off entirely. Watching the snow fall around the car in alternate turns of heavy and light, Hiro looked to the man he has shared the adventure with and, despite the cold and miserable day, smiled.
And Ando, surprised, smiled back.
