Summary: Castle explains to Beckett why he didn't sleep with Natalie and it isn't because of Gina...
Disclaimer: I do not own Castle.
Author's Note: This is what I wanted to happen but, unfortunately, it didn't so I'm writing it. Hopefully it's not too OOC. Feedback makes me happy.
The precinct was quiet for the time being and Kate Beckett had a burning question in her mind. For once, though, it wasn't about a murder. It was more of a personal matter and, despite the fact that she didn't want to give a voice to the nagging thought, she realized there was no way she would be able to sleep tonight if she didn't. Now, how to ask the question without it sounding like she was jealous. Which she was not. She was merely curious. And she would continue telling herself this until she believed it.
"Hey, Castle, not that it's any of my business, but why didn't you sleep with Natalie?"
"She's not my type," Castle said with a shrug.
"What do you mean," Kate asked, feeling slightly hurt. But it wasn't because she was in love with him, she reassured herself. She had Josh. And he was wonderful.
"Because Natalie was a copy and copies, although they can look nice, are never as good as the original," Castle said.
"So, you're saying that if it had been me, you would have?" The question was out of her mouth before she had the sense to stop it.
"Why detective, would you have offered," Castle asked, leering.
"In your dreams, Castle," Beckett said, grabbing her coat and walking into the elevator. As soon as the doors closed, however, she smiled brightly. But it wasn't because she wanted him. At least that's what she told herself.
