The Ninja's of the Silver Head Guard
There was once a splendid village deep in a forest, with great stone walls and a high gateway, and turrets that rose way above the tallest trees. The forest was dark and dangerous, with many cruel creatures led by the traitor Orochimaru and his assistant Kabuto. But in the castle lived the brave ninjas placed there by the Hokage of the Country of Fire Hiruzen Sarutobi, they helped travelers go through the forest and fought against Orochimaru and his cohorts.
Each of these ninjas had beautiful protective gear and and lots of ninja tools to assist him. But the most wonderful thing about the ninjas was their head guard. They were not like those of the other ninjas, but had been made by a great researcher many years before. They were made of silver and sometimes shone brightly in the sunlight with dazzling brightness; but at other times they may seem to be clouded with mist, so one cannot see their own reflection.
Now when each young ninja earned his protective gear and ninja tools, a new head guard will be given from the ones the researcher had made; and when the head guard was new its surface was cloudy and dull. But as the ninja began to fight against enemies and help travelers along their way, his head guard grew brighter and brighter, so that his face could be clearly reflected. But if ninja was lazy or cowardly, and let the enemies get the better of him, or did not help the travelers, his head guard would grow more and more cloudy, until the ninja was ashamed to wear it.
But that is not all. If the ninja had fought an extremely hard battle and gained the victory, or carried an hard mission for the head of the village, and was successful, not only did his head guard shine brighter but the symbol in the middle glowed the color of gold. This was the greatest honor a ninja could earn. Usually a ninja would earn it when he is very old and tried as a warrior that he could win it. At the time the story begins the only one with this honor is the Hokage and a few other ninjas.
